Keeping an ever-watchful and loving eye on his large and growing family is our superintendent and friend, J. V. Soold, affectionately known to all of us as Pop . Daily returning grads seek him out in room two to shake his hand and reminisce and thank him for past courtesies and inspiration. All of us, from mighty Seniors to the most timid Freshman, find ourselves proud to be included in his ever-increasing family. When we are out of step, he puts us right; when we are lost, he helps us to find our¬ selves; when we are in the dark, he shines the light for us—for he is always on the beam and we are proud to call him Our Pop . 1 I PRINCIPAL ' S MESSAGE 9

TRUSTEES Once again the students of Washington Union High School would like to extend their congratu¬ lations and thanks to our trustees: Mr. Harrold, Mr. Enos, Mr. Alanneda, Mr. Logan and Mr. Scott, for their activities during the past year. They are carry¬ ing on one of the highest types of community service, the maintenance and the development of our public schools. These five members of the Board of Trustees, working with Mr. Gould, and Mr. Gravestock, are formulating plans for the development of our facili¬ ties to meet the greatly increasing enrollment. Our Trustees have always backed up our athletic programs and are now making plans for new im provements, such as lights on the football field. This has been a year of excellent achievement and the members of the student body greatly appreciate the services the Board of Trustees has given so will¬ ingly to our school. MR. ALAMEDA MR.
