Basketball Lettermen AL LOTHROP: S'11 Senior' Forward - First all-conference selection . . . dependable rebounder . . . good shot from any spot on the floor. PAT RYAN: 6' Senior Forward' - deadly jump shot made him the Braves' highest scorer . . . steady and dependable ball player . . . second all- conference five. CHARLES STILES: S'1O Senior Guard - second year letterman . . good ball handler and defensive player . . . very good team player. LARRY JOHNSON: 6'2 Scvzior Forward - second year letterman . . . works hard . . . good rebounder and one of the mainstays of the team. CHARLES PETERSON: 6'2 Senior CUIIILCI' - greatly improved ball player . . . good rebounder and clutch player. WAYNE EKREN: 5'9 Iunior Guard - fine ball handler and dribbler . . . plays well out in front court. JOHN ANDREWS: 5'11 Sophomore Guard - one of two underclass- men on the squad . . . played guard or post . . . could score from anywhere . . . good prospect. RALPH MARTIN: S'10 Senior Guard--good long shot . . . played well in clutch . . . could snag long rebounds. RICHARD SAGNESS: 6'2 Iunior Forward-guarzf - played both po- sitions well . . . took the game seriously . . . good rebounder . . . good side shot. LOWELL PETERS: 6'2 Sophomore Center - very good defensive man . . . could score when called upon . . . rebounded well . . . was always ready. GAYLORD PETERS: 6'3 Iunior Crnfcr - great height gave him re- bounding advantage . . . is developing rapidly . . . should be good senior player. DALE GRAUER: 6' Senior Forward - came along fast after midyear . . . good side shot . . . good team player. Golf Mr. Leslie Licklider became golf coach this year assisted by Mr. Walt Adamson, local pro. Two returning lettermen, junior Bob Creel and senior Al Lothrop, were joined by junior Larry Wfatts, sophomore Bob Klatt, and freshman Ronald Baldner to make up the 1954 golf team. The past season the golf team won two dual meets and one quad- angular. They placed second in another four school meet and the Lakes Conference Meet. The team qualified for the state meet at Fort Dodge where they placed ninth. Al Lothrop was an Iowa delegate to the Junior Chamber of Commerce tournament held in Michigan.

BASKETBALL The second team, consisting of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who were not on the first team, played fifteen games winning eight and losing seven. Mr. Pickford coached the boys and at times had a starting lineup composed entirely of sophomores. Playing before large audiences these boys furnished real basketball thrills as they proved that they knew how to play the game with a will to win. In che county tournaments the freshmen-sophomores lost to Aurelia, the county champions, 35-23 in a first round game. .-70.-.
