THE BIG PARADE The great variety of floats created a beautiful and interesting parade. The judges had difficul- ty in choosing the win- ning float, but finally decided upon The Big Upsetw by Senior Home- rooni Qne, which exhi- bited a big bottle of Pepto Bismol. Pictured are some of the other floats and the marching band which led the colorful parade from the school through the business district which was thronged with thousands of excit- ed Chcrokeans who came to town to enjoy the homecoming day. -r vw 'w-,+'w'ff2'Z3f1- if 2: ' ,MF Ei . -1-16' if 1. , , if 'J Raif gg f,jw aim F'v'ft 159,

Homecoming of I953 Long live the Queen! Long live the Queen!,' was the traditional cheer which sent a vibrant thrill through the hearts of many of the Wfashington High students on Homecoming. Homecoming Queen, Ruth Peterson, who graciously expressed her thanks for being chosen queen, and who wished our team the 'tbest of luck , was attired in a lovely gown of blue and white. She was attended by four pretty seniors, Patty Peterson, Shirley Phipps, Barbara Wallace, and Shirley Lauer. After che coronation, Queen Ruthie and her attendants reigned over the parade and the homecoming game with Spirit Lake. It was the thrill and exuberance which Homecom- ing casts over the entire school body, which surged through the Cherokee Braves, and gave them the power to prove that on this all important day, they were undefeatable.
