s Mr. C. E. Jones always presents a very good educational assembly for the junior and senior high school students. This year we especially enjoyed his very interesting and timely program about atomic energy. Miss Dorothy Freriks, school nurse, taught Care of the sick in the homel' to members of the homemaking classes. She is shown teaching the proper way to help a sick person rest in a sitting position when they are recover- ing from an illness. lt was time for GSC to decorate the Christmas tree in the study hall and we were so happy. We were thinking about the 'joys of the season' and the two weeks of vacation so near at hand. 34-

Sophomore Class Plays The three one-act sophomore class plays, under the direction of Mr. Theodore Carlquest, were presented on February 16 at 8 p.m. in the Wilson auditorium. The student directors were Karen Becker and Prist cilla McKenzie. Joan Cuffel, Marlene Ament and Patty Braley acted as prompters. Make-up committee included Marilyn Grover, Betty Fortner and Donna Wilson. Stage crew helpers were George Day, Larry Scott, Allyn Moe and John Turnland. THE LEGEND OF CAMILLE This one act drama by Charles George is an adaptation of the famous French play Camille , by Alexander Dumas the Younger. This romantic story tells of a bewitching coquette who carries on a tempestuous and ill-fated romance with the handsome Amand Duval. The setting is Paris, and the cast is composed entirely of women. Camille is portrayed by Mary Margaret Rupp, Nanie, Ann Hankens, Madame Prudence, Jo Ann Burkhart, Olympe, Myrna Cowan, and Anto- nette, Donna Lanxon. SUBMERGED A tragedy by H. Stuart Cottman, takes place in the forward compart- ment in a wrecked and submerged submarine. A commander and five men are trapped on the bottom of the ocean. The suspense and fatal tragedy which composes this play make it one of the best ever written. The all male cast includes the following boys: McAndrews, the com- mander, Dennis Wray, Bruce, the coward, Donald Bevins, Dunn, the lover, Robert Armbrecht, Shaw, the dreamer, Tracy Anderson, and Jorg- son, the bully, Lester Hicks. XINGU A comedy in one act by Thomas Seller, is a dramatization of Edith Warton's story. A group of club women try to entertain a high-hat woman novelist. To start a conversation, one member begins to talk about Xingu, a word that no one knows of, but one that no one will admit. The result is an entertaining comedy. This play had an all-girl cast with the part of Mrs. Ballinger played by Doris Hall, Mrs. Leveret, Virginia Derksen, Mrs. Plynth, Marika Williams, Miss Van Vluyck, Carol Berkler, Miss Laura Glyde, Nancy Kintigh, Mrs. Fanny Roby, Elizabeth Gentry, Osric Dane, Sue Eaton, and the maid, Patsy Wfayman. -35...
