MI REMEMBER MAMA On November 20, the Klunior Class, under the direction of Mr. Sherman, presented a two-act comedy, I Remember Mamaf' Katrin CLois Ehrichj tells the story of her family who had lived in San Francisco for as long as she could remember. Mama ftloan I-Iantsbargerj had a bank account that never would be used until a critical moment arose. XVhen Dagmar QCarole Newlandj went to the hospital, Mama saw her only after disguising herself as a scrubwoman and fooling the hospi- tal Staff. There was a time when Aunt Trina QShirley Howardj wanted to marry Mr. Thorkelson QTed Mahlerj , but was afraid to ask permission of the head of the family, gruff Uncle Chris qPhil Hartliepj. Mama in her kind way saw to it that her timid sister had her wish. NVhen Uncle Chris died, the entire family found Ollt the fine things he had done for children like Arne QXVillard Brinegarj who were lame like himself. Kathrin wanted to become a writer and when her stories were rejected, Mama went to the famous author lflorence Dana Moorehead fPeggy Wfaddellj and in exchange for her secret recipe got criticism on Katrin's stories. Katrin tried again and in writing about her own family she was successful. It was only then that Mama and Papa fliob Montgomeryj told the children that there was no bank account. The lie had been told to give the children security. s Mr. C. E. Jones always presents a very good educational assembly for the junior and senior high school students. This year we especially enjoyed his very interesting and timely program about atomic energy. Miss Dorothy Freriks, school nurse, taught Care of the sick in the homel' to members of the homemaking classes. She is shown teaching the proper way to help a sick person rest in a sitting position when they are recover- ing from an illness. lt was time for GSC to decorate the Christmas tree in the study hall and we were so happy. We were thinking about the 'joys of the season' and the two weeks of vacation so near at hand. 34-
