Washington, New Jersey ■ Foreword We have tried to present the real life and spirit of Washington High School in this yearbook. We have enjoyed our past year, and we will always remember this time of our life. We hope that this yearbook will recall experiences we had during the 1961-1962 school year when we read it in years to come. ELNORAH S. FITZPATRICK It is with a great deal of gratification that the class of 1962 dedicates this yearbook to Miss Elnorah S. Fitzpatrick, girls physical education teacher. She excels as a teacher and is a matchless adviser to the Outdoor Club and Pep Club. In addition, she coaches the cheerleaders and the girls' basketball team. Girls who have been in her classes and participated in activities under her direction were recipients of kind understanding and friendly advice. Everyone who knows her will remember the twinkling blue eyes and cheery smile that belong to our Miss Fitz. 5 Our School SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE Today's high school has the two-fold responsibility of providing education for all, while attempting to serve each individual according to his needs and talents. The needs of young people in modern America are surely moving toward the inclusion not merely of their own world but of outer space as well. With the realization of this development, demands upon youth are ever increasing and the need for a solid educational background is more apparent. We hope that our efforts stand you in good stead as you step into an ever-changing outside world, and we shall be attentively watching your continued progress. The Board of Education, administration, and faculty join me in extending best wishes for your future. JAMES E. EVERGETIS Principal SIDNEY EFFROSS Superintendent of Schools PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE Your high school years are the happiest and most promising in all your life. What you have accomplished during this period will have a major effect on your future. Only you know what treasures have been gleaned while in high school. As adult members of society you will have an effect on the lives of your neighbors. If we were able to help you to learn tolerance of others, to make fair decisions and to be willing to share in community responsibilities, your time in school was well spent. 6 Administrators MISS RUTH WELLER Vice Principal MISS HELEN B.
