Their job is to proctor halls and locker rooms and to direct visitors. Absent: Walter Wor-rall, Joe Deuchlcr. The Traffic Squad consists of ten regular members and ten substitutes who are chosen by the Student Council from a list of volunteers. To see that everyone gets to class on time, to regulate traffic, and to prevent accidents are the duties of the Traffic Squad. [29]

The Student Council is composed of representatives of all organizations and classes, who, as a group, work for the students themselves. They handle all affairs, activities, and assemblies, striving for the betterment of our school. The officers are chosen by the entire student body. During the year, members of our council met and exchanged ideas Student Council Officers and Advisers Left to Right: Miss Weller, Adviser; James Lawyer. Treasurer; Edith Bellini, Corresponding Secretary; Pete Perini, President; Dorothy Fowler. Recording Secretary; Ray Koestner, Vice President; Miss H. Stone, Adviser. with representatives of the Hackettstown High School Student Council concerning the bettering of relations between the two schools. In November, fifteen of our members attended the Twentieth Annual Convention of the State Association of Student Councils at New Brunswick. Ideas from this convention were brought to the entire council and later published in the school news of The Washington Star. The Student Council is responsible for Hall Sentinels, Traffic Squad, and Fire Squad; it has taken care of the introduction of speakers at assemblies; it has been responsible for improving and changing all locker combinations, and it has patrolled our games to maintain order and to prevent damage to our school. The meetings of our Student Council are held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, although Executive Committee meets each Wednesday when there is no regular council meeting. [28]

Stone, Miss Meaker, and Miss Mulkey, these seven seniors, elected by their classmates, gave birth to the 1946 Cache and carefully brought it to maturity. Although it was the cause of much anxiety, they feel that they have reason to be proud of the finished product.
