Preparations were made for a Christmas assembly and also for an evening performance but these programs were cancelled because of the early closing of school. The spring concert was presented before Easter vacation. Ah tent: Irene Vlossak. I lie French Club, composed of the members of the first and second year French classes, meets the third Thursday of each month and provides a multiplicity of features including group sinking, games, movies, and social affairs. It forms a valuable adjunct to the classroom by providing, in an atmosphere of cordiality and informality, many desirable activities for which the class time is not sufficient. Pupils become more proficient in the French language and indirectly but definitely learn much about France, its culture, civilization, and significance in contemporary world history. Future Farmers of America This year the F. F. A. has carried on a program to raise money for club activities and club equipment by selling candy, hatching eggs in the club incubator, and many minor activities. The boys have taken an active part in district and state activities. They entered the egg and apple grading contest and won the district egg grading contest, thereby representing District One at the state contest at Trenton. They also participated in the Hoard's Dairyman dairy cattle judging contest and plan to take part in the state contests in the spring. In March the Washington F. F. A. played host to District One for the Annual F. F. A. rally. These boys have also carried on soil testing, blood testing of poultry, caring for orchards, and many other agricultural activities. Members of the National Honor Society are selected from the junior and senior classes. To become eligible students must first have a general scholastic average of 85 or above. Applicants are then rated on their characters, leadership, and service as displayed in the school and community at large. Students remain working members until just before graduation when they are again rated.
