Art Club The Art Club, one of the new clubs initiated this year in Washington High School, has proved itself worthy of being a lasting organization. All members follow their own interests. The work is varied. Some sketch in pencil; others work in ink. Water color, oil painting and period fashion design are popular types of work, while there are always posters and general school signs to be made. First Ron: Left to Right—Blanche Brown. Edwinna Marshall, Malbea Ann Lauriat, Dorothy Doland, Dorothy Potter, Constance Renigar, Carolyn Woodruff. Second Row: Bernice Alpaugh, Nancy Warren, Robert Adler, Miss Kuntz, Oscar O'Connor. Russell Brown, Bertha Sloan. Kathryn Lance. Third Row: Joseph Bowlby, Ernest Morgan, Jack Scott. Camera Club The Camera Club is comprised of amateur photographers. The members take, develop, print, and enlarge pictures under the guidance of Mr. Bodine, who is talented in the field of photography. Arista In order to lie eligible for Arista all report card grades must be eighty or above throughout the year. Awards are made according to the number of years a student has been a member. Builders Club The Builders Club was organized to aid its members in gaining additional shop experience. This group of students used their skill in making the suggestion box, football yard markers, and plastic tags. Commercial Club The Commercial Club, directed by Miss Mulkey, holds its meetings on the third Monday of each month during the activities period. Members were from the secretarial practice and stenography classes. During the various monthly meetings speakers from different First Ron: Left to Right—Rose Kosval, Carole Peterson, Dolores Barron, Dolores Hoover, Jo Dcl-Vecchio, Vice-President; Nancy Nicholas, President; Ann Fiore, Secretary; Eve Hummer, Cellerina Donnini, Jo Bevilacqua. Helen Grbich, Darlene Gaunter, Lois Hill, Albina Dcllavcdova, Ludc-vina Rossetti, Joan Saldarinc, Betty Pierce, Betty Seguinc, Shirley Coleman, Alice Naticzak, Carrie Quigley, Edith Bellini, Bertha Sloan. Third Rou: Joyce Julian, Gloria Shrope, Shirley Snyder, Winona Jones. Betty Lou Dillman, Rena Zulauf, Joyce Opdyke, Betty Riddle, Janet Rupell, Jean Stau-gaard, Gloria Saldarinc, Angelina Leggio. Absent: June Tucker, Lois Kcrk-cndall. branches of business were guests. Panel discussions were also held and the members benefited greatly. The other meetings were used to read articles and stories, play games and work on the various awards material contained in The Gregg Writer, a magazine published monthly and of invaluable assistance in vitalizing and making effective the study of shorthand. Donald Sinkway, Albert Dc-Cresci, Ralph Castner, George Dennis, Frank Hasscmcr, Joe Deuchler, Ray Koestner. Absent: Walter Worrall. Lewis Baldwin Fire Squad The Fire Squad is entirely composed of volunteers chosen by the Student Council and the faculty. Nine seniors, six juniors, and two sophomores are members. These boys have a great responsibility resting on their shoulders. Their main job is to see that everyone is out of the building safely in the event of a fire alarm. They are always on the alert and ready to take their assigned places when the alarm sounds. These boys take charge wholeheartedly of the year’s required number of fire drills. [20]
