This is our time for new experiences — Experiences which form the foundations for our future decisions. This is our time for studying, learning, and having fun together. These are the days to remember. MJ ' ' O ' o 0 . YOUTH THE PRIDE !•- - -•X ■' ' nf ' l ' ■%M7: OF WASHINGTON OUR CREED To acquire self-control .ind self-reliance. To co-oper.ite with others for the welfare of my school. To develop in myself an appreciation of the finer things of life; To be loyal to my school in thought and word and deed, and to give her always of my best efforts. To be conscious at all times that 1 represent my school in every word and act; These things shall be my honest endeavor as a student in Washington High School. These exciting moments — Urging on another basket. Swinging to Don ' t Be Cruel , Trying out for the Hi-Lites , Thinking about graduation and college — Even common occurances like — Rushing to the local Pizzeria for pizza, Reading the local paper. Walking that steady girl-friend home. Getting ready for church Sunday morning. Wondering about our future — Make our school years worth re- membering. Playing one of their roughest schedules, which included of the top 1 5 teams of the state, the Senators were able to win 1 .1 games, while losing . Coach John Baratto and his assist- ants, Nick Sarengach and John Molodet, may be proud of this season record since it is the best in recent years. Of the 1 .i games won by the Senators, 8 were forfeited because of the ineligibility of a senior player. The actual record read 5 won, 16 lost. Washington, the East Chicago Sectional favorite, was beat- en by Bishop Noll in the opening game of the tourney. H - 9. The Senators, with the 6 ' 4 height average of John Dull, Norm Upshaw, and Pete Auksel, dominated the rebounds in most of their games. Nick Stanciu, Mike Milausnic, Santos Jiminez, and Dennis Kale handled most of the guard work for the team. Other players seeing action were Bennie Harris, Lundell Borom, Ted Mason, Ron Divjak, Leo Hall, and Jerry Eskoff. Captain John Dull, who set the gymnasium record of 40 points in the Terre Haute Gerstmeyer game, received a start- ing position on the All-Conference Team. This year our George Washington Chap- ter of Washington High School, in existence for thirty-one years, has twenty-nine members. Only those seniors in the upper third of the class scholastically are eligible for membership. Other qualifications, which must be evident from the sophomore through the senior year, are good char- acter, honesty, achievement, morality, reliability, lea- dership, a desire to act in the best interests of the school: and to give service whenever called upon. Our faculty chooses the members. The 1957 members of the National Honor Society ha e made worthwhile contributions to Washington High School and reflect the character of our school.
