For the first time in twenty years the style of the Weekly Anvil was changed. Instead ot the traditional three column style, four columns are now used to make a better and more interesting school paper. ln addition to this, another major change occurred. No longer do the print shop classes do the work for the paper. The staff is assigned to a regular print shop class and given print shop credit for it. Let us introduce this year's staff. We are proud of their achievement and congratulate them on their success. The editor, blond and brilliant, is Mildred Galbo. Talented Vir- ginia Galik and versatile Eugenia Baltes are assistant editors. Clever Esther Iacoby writes the interesting articles with a new slant that has created f much comment. Her mystery questions have stumped the besto us. f d hi with Myrtle was exposed by colum- The diary of Hortense, based on her rien s p , nists Gladys Drake and Salli Evans. ln it was found all the latest gossip and through the year it has proved most informative. Mary Ann took over the job of assistant editbr when Eugenia graduated in Ianuary. The roving reporters - Renette Golden, Dorothy Tengosik, Helen Psaltis, lrene Vano, Teresa Szymanski, and Kathryn Poi - are continually coming up with something new in the way of news stories about activities in school. On the sports page Amelia Hanusniak kept the sports-minded girls Well-informed. The student government is composed of eighteen councilmen, judge, clerk, and the student manager. The records Will show that our student manager has fulfilled his job to the minute details. We knew We Would have a Well-done job with Chuck Kelly as the student manager. Presiding over the student government is a senior member of the organization who has been very active in school affairs. He goes by the title of The President of the Student Government, Paul Bubalaf' Order in the court is the familiar cry of the honorable Iudge Longnecker, more commonly known as Bert. Letters, notes, and minutes are all efficiently attended to by Pearl Chaffee, the clerk. Under the guidance of Mr. Palmer, this year's student govern- ment has gone far to make Washington High School a better place.
