ag 1144 The senuor class of l944 wull leave un June wuth many regrets There are fond memorues of our hugh school days at Washungton and an aspect of hope for the future It was only a few short years ago that we en tered Washungton as shy freshmen green but eager to learn eager to become accustomed to the ways of our hugh school and anxuously awaut ung our furst freshman party In our sophomore year we were more sure of ourselves sophustucates of the school world No longer greenues we fully enjoyed our posutuon un school and were cjuuck to take advantage of the new freshues Two sophomores Norah Duff and Ray Sufana were chosen the Most Promusung students Of W l-l S As junuors we sponsored three class events besudes lendung our hand un many all school ac tuvutues Led by Ed Nemeth as presudent Dorothy Jackura vuce presudent and Rose Goodman sec retary we had a junuor harvest party un November and the junuor play A Connectucut Yankee un Kung Arthurs Court un March The harvest party was a gay unformal affaur held the eve of the game played to determune State Champs un football The play one of the best un several years was an adaptatuon of the move versuon whuch starred Wull Rogers Gregory Karabatsos the Connectucut Yankee gave a brulluant per formance as dud the enture cast A few of the outstandung performances were guven by Tom Kluga a knught un Kung Arthur s Court and Matt Prespolesku a very excutable boy page ln March when the presudent went unto the senuor class Dorothy Jackura took over hus dutues Imogene Wulluams a member of our class was elected Muss Washungton by the students and Norah Duff was agaun chosen the Most Promusuncj gurl Offucers elected for the comung school year were Mayor Carlton Trumble Judge George Marchuk and Clerk lvluldred Tumbus The most umportant event of our junuor year was the anxuously awauted prom whuch was held June 4 lt was a fune success despute duffucultues cat sed by the war Our furst act as senuors was to elect JoeJackura l-lelen Stevens and Janet Lundbergh as our senuor class leaders After that came a successuon of class meetungs to plan our senuor actuvutues The h rvest party un November the play Tuger l cusc and the senuor carnuval were all great successes The senuor class us proud of uts two sets of twuns Jean and Joan Cardell and Ray and Joe Tully The Tullys are actuve un swummung and track whule the Gardells are musucally uncluned Other outstandung senuors are Muldred Tumbus and Dan Stepanovuch promusung sungers Ruth Brenman a puanust Dora ldu who leans towards actung as a career Norah Duff our very good ouator Margaret Flynn and Pablo Lopez class artusts Eluzabeth Dragoun Senuor Sport l-lead for gurls Vuncent Boryla Carl Trumble Tom DeLor James Butts George Vr elj and Bull Goldsmuth wr-o snow exceptuonal abuluty un sports and Lor ra ne Kurulova Magdelene Muchel and Imogene Wulluams senuor members of thus years cheer Ieadung squad who are to be commended for theur pep and enthusuasm durung the football and basketball seasons and also durung the tourna ment The Senuor Anxul staff kept busy durung most of the school vear breathed a sugn of rel ef when the book went to press and settled down to enjoy the rest of theur senuor year l-lobo Day Class Day the senuor prom baccalaureate serv uces and commencement successfully rounded out the year for the senuors of 44 li I 1 1 1 1 1 ' 1 1 - ' 1 , , 4 . . , . . - I , . . . .
