TRAflx lop Row-Mr Clark Kilpatrick Fields Roberson G Rollins R Rollins G Pumnea Sccord Row Roth La7ar Rulhn Ioftnn Smith Yocum Ybxrd Row Pumnu Smrks F1h1an Tata Graham Visak Collins Kohna Bottom Row- Wilstaii Soul Stm K1slcvich Miller Maki A Rollen On your marks get set go the bark of a gun the Hash of spikes the crunch of cmders the athletes speed around the track the Hash of a white ribbon and the voice of the Judge announcing the results of the race Dashes runs, hurdles, relays, high jump broad lump, pole vault, and shot put strenuous events of track and field meets in which athletes participate hoping some day to break some long standing record The Senator track men participated in only two track meets during 1932 both of which they won They defeated Thornton Fractional and Roosevelt The maroon and white track squad took most of the Hrst places in each meet and won both by a high score The hot sun shining upon a tenms court four players clad in white two on each side of the net, running ball falls outside of the lines a game' The Washington Senator netmen had a very poor season during 1932 In their first ei ounter they lost to the Emerson netmen and Roosevelt defeated them in their second meet The Senator tennis players then lost to the Whiting 1nd Froebel netmen The maroon and white tenms squad lost in turn to Horace Mann Froebel, Emerson, and Roosevelt, losing each game by a close score The team which consisted of Muir Shutan Manker, Reves, and Feigenbaum was stronger in the doubles th1n in the singles In addition to the work of the physical education department to maintain the health of the students the clmlc also plays 1 ve y important part Here the regular school nurse and school doctor are established to do their work They not only care for the every day cuts and bruises, but check up on 1ll students to see that they are well before they go back to regular classes Another phase of their work is that of giving physical examinations Every semester each student enrolled in the gymnasium classes is given a physi cal examination The school nurse also tests the eyes of the students and tells them whether or not they need glasses The hearing of the students is also tested The physically handicapped of the school are also given aid There is a teacher to teach the deaf hp reading A special class for those who have poor eyesight IS held Another teacher for speech correction 15 also employed game with Mohler and Reves Page Twenty seven l w .l- -I ' ' ' 1 1 b ' t H, 1 1 ' n v 3 a r ' ,K 1 -3, 4 , iv i 3 , , . 4 ' . . , . , . , . back and forth. . .one serves. . .the ball hits the net. . .he serves again. . .a few minutes of 'steady playing. . .the . . . if . .. , 3 7 5 . , V fu -
