Informal and formal initiations were conducted for the benefit of the new members, All girls entering the club are required to participate in these two events before their entrance is granted. During the year members of the club have taken part in basketball, bowling, and swimming, Besides being active in athletic events, the club has contributed financially to the community and school. At Christmas, a food basket was donated for the welfare of a needy family. The club also assisted the gym classes with their project. The cost of the handbooks, for the seventh graders and newcomers, was handled by the A club W In the middle of the school year a dance, Examination Blues , was presented to the senior high students by the club members. ln the past the club has contributed a great deal towards the welfare of the girls affiliated with it. Both physically and morally the Girls Athletic Association of our school helps build better citizens for tomorrow. -41 ff' 'Z L TX.. An intriguing style show pre- sented by the Future Homemakers of America, was the main activity of the club, Members of the home- making classes made most of the clothes which were modeled in this colorful, gay event. Another spring- time activity was a mother-daughter banquet which is presented annually in the form of a pot-luck supper. At Christmas, the homemaker went caroling around our city and to the local hospital. . . All girls who have taken one year of homernaking or who are taking it at the present time are eligeble to join F. H. A. A formal initiation, in the form of a candlelight ceremony, is held in the fall to re- ceive all new members. There are now over sixty girls in the group who present their ideas and skills for the betterment of the club and school. 4.4.4. X .-119' .-ill? They also attended the Southwestern Clinic at Parma, Michigan. Each year six girls are elected by the student council after having received in- struction in the spring. Much practice goes into the art of cheerleading and these girls deserve credit for they play a large part in building SChO01 mOr2le.
