He was delighted with the appreciative male glances at confident club queens and Hustered candidates as they paraded for the crowd. And when Miss WCHS received her bouquet, the cameraman nearly tripped over himself for a portrait of her tearful smile, forever to be recorded. But the face that stole the show and earned a prominent place in everyone's portfolio of memories belonged to the courageous crownbearer-Charlie Adams. So varied and distinct were the expressions that Hitted across the little man's face, that it was like watching a great actor perform. First, CharIie's face was solemn and full of pomp for the very serious part he had to play in the ceremony. However, after walking dignifiedly down the white runner, he seated himself in the crownbearer's chair and waited. As time passed, he became hdgety with lack of attention and nothing to do. After he valiantly endured the longevity of a coronation ceremony, who can blame this noble boy for not budging from his throne when his time came to leave? Later, at the parade, Miss WCHS sat atop her Hoat, regal and poised, while her court ladies frantically endeavored to keep precarious positions on a slippery car. A wistful clowngirl, tired from the suffocating heat, waited impatiently for the floats to move. All the while, thousands of excited faces peered out from the throngs of people on either side of the street, and feet tapped to the music of marching bands ...... The sidewalks were silent, the streets were deserted. It was over too soon.
