Clubs at Broadway A very valuable addition was made to the extra-curricular activiti year when a number of clubs were organized at liroadwuy. They were as follows:- Dramatic Club Latin Club Handicraft Club Debating Club French Club Each club held its meeting once a week and was under the supervi one or more teachers. The meetings were held from three fifteen unti Every student was required to hold membership in at least one and no than three of the clubs. Some very valuable work was accomplished, not only in the progr the clubs themselves but in furthering co-operation between the studen the teachers and in furthering the interest of the students in the school. Cizfizensliip Activities at Surrey The foundation of our citizenship is based on three great princi inspiration, information and participation. The greatest of these is par tion. Under the leadership of our history teacher, Mr. E. Russell Hic Senior Class tried to develop these three great principles to a high degre In the hrst part of the year we organized Ye Olde Town Meeting, introduced a government, of the student, by the student, for the student, the guidance of the teacher. Each morning the meeting was opened moderator who presided until the end of the business period. The n was then turned over to Mr. Hicks. Many interesting dicussions arose and, in addition to our regular l work, much practical information was learned. On March 27, a miniature Congress was organized as part of our r Civics Course. The Senior Academics became the Senate and the Commercials became the House of Representatives. In the Senate, Edwin Schroyer was elected Vice-President and Yeakle was made Chief Clerk. Joshua Messersmith and Frederick were chosen majority and minority floor leaders by their respective par In the House, Robert Stouffer was elected Speaker and Alvin San elected Chief Clerk. Howard Schellhase and King Keedy were chose jority and minority iioor leaders. Party spirit was strong in both Houses. Many bills were introduc debated upon. Clear thinking became the order of the day. Difficult lems were disposed of in a quick and decisive manner. Problems were just as the United States Senate solves them. There is no doubt in the mind of any Senior that this training in C ship has been and will be a great help to him.
