1 9 The Boys Hi Dramatic Club In October of this school year The Boysl Hi Dramatic Club was organiz- ed with the following ofhcers: President, Ralph Sprecherg Vice-President, Raymond Schwingerg Secretary, Edwin Kemp, Treasurer, Robert Elliott. At a later date the Club chose its colors, blue and gold. The Club was especially fortunate in securing such an able and experienced director as Miss Grace Brane. The first semester was spent in organizing and studying dramatic terms and expression. The second semester was spent in dramatizing several short plays. The first public appearance was March fifth at the Y. M. C. A. The plays were well received and the Club with Miss Brane were tendered many words of praise. This being the first year for such an organization at Surrey no illustrious achievements can be expected. To be pioneers is a task worthy of admiration. The Club having reaped the benefits of this organization, pass it on to future classes with the hope that by their labor and success they shall perpetuate its existence as a permanent school organization. Class Play According to the custom of past years, the Senior Class will present a play this year. In former years the play was generally Shakespearian, but in re- cent years a modern play has been chosen. This year the play is Adam and Eva, a modern comedy in three acts. The interest centers around the King Family. Mr. King is a wealthy rubber merchant. His family have been spoiled and in consequence are great spendthrifts. He gets very tired of constantly paying bills and is seeking some way to escape from his cares when Adam Smith, his South American Manager appears upon the scene, Adam, who is lonesome for a family, agrees to ex- change places with Mr. King. After an uphill fight, Adam deceives the family into going to work and is rewarded with the hand of pretty Eva King. The whole plot is cleverly conceived and very funny. The Hoo-Wair-N-Wai The Hoo-Wair-N'Wat was first started by the girls of '23, when, with the help of the other students, they published several successful numbers through the Morning Herald. Last year, finding that thc former plan of publication was not altogether satisfactory, the girls of the four classes from Broadway successfully edited monthly, a separate four page paper. This year, with a view towards the union of Broadway and Surrey, the Hoo-Wair'N-Wat became a Co-ed Paper. The staff has accomplished its one object-that of editing a peppy, six page paper. It even went so far as to make one number a f'SurpI'ise Issue of fourteen pages, featuring a two page pictorial section, several cross-word puzzles, and a number of good cuts. During the Hoo-Wair-N-Wat's three years' existence it has been financed by funds obtained from the proceeds of a candy sale, the Bo4I'eep Tea Room. a lunch stand at the Fairground, subscriptions, and advertisements.
