The Hi- Y Review The Hagerstown Hi-Y Club was lirst organized in the fall of 1919 at the Y. M. C. A. Camp along Big Pool. For the last two years the Club. under the leadership of Mr. H. E. Wolf, has been growing steadily. The present Hi-Y began its work in April 1924, when new members taken into the club. A banquet was given at which Mr. Grossbeck, Wilming- ton. Delaware, Boys' Work Secretary and Mr. 1. D. Zentmyer gave interzlst- ing talks. During the summer outings were held at Bester's Club House along the Potomac River. at Red Bridge and Caledonia. ' The club started its real work with the beginning of school. Meetings were held every Monday evening at which many interesting discussions place. wpre took Hi-Y One of the first steps made by the club was the publishing of the Helper which introduced the Four-C Campaign. This campaign was for the purpose of establishing, clean speech, clean sports, clean living, and clean scholarship. The next step was a Friendship Campaign for the purpose of establis ing better friendship. It was introduced at a banquet at which President Gor, on. Mr. Hicks and Mr. Wolf gave interesting talks. The remainder of the cam- paign was put across by discussion in regular meetings. During the winter, members of the Club attended conferences at Camp Letts on the Rhodes River and at Wilmington, Delaware. One of the largest feats accomplished by the club was a banquet giv initiate the county schools into Hi-Y work. Mr. Harry Baker, National Work Secretary and Mr, Zentmyer gave talks on the purpose and work ol the Club. Ijoyls nto Several times the Club was entertained by Max Fiery. its former Presi- dent. The work of the Orchestra has been excellent. bringing not only vociferous applause on numerous occasions but also many comments praising their ex- cellent work. The Orchestra oiliciutcd at all High School activities, such as, basketball games, programs and commencement. In addition, they played for various clubs, lodges and churches of the city.
