Soccer Review Starting out the season this year with a team made up of players who knew very little about the game, Coach LaMar succeeded in building up team, which, although it did not win a championship. nevertheless displayed! great fighting spirit for the school. The team composed largely of greenies, after having been licked into' shape played its iirst game at Middletown a practice game which we lost. However, it did not make such a great showing against some of the league teams, especially against those where soccer is their only sport. Much difiiculty was inet when the team played on some of the fields in the league. Z1 With the exception of Captain Rider, Beard, Messe-rsmith, Dellinger George, and D. C. Miller who will graduate, the Soccer team will have pra tically the same material to draw from next year, and it is hoped that it wil be able to become Champions of the County. We wish to thank Coach LaMar for the interest which he has shown throughout the season. Clearspring Hancock Smithburg Boonsboro Williamsport ' Home Hagerstown Hagerstown Hagerstown . Volley Ball Review Volley Rall, although rather slow compared to a number of other has been a very popular sport in the past year. Teachers, students, an out- siders were not disappointed when they attended any of the games, ln ,fact l garites, d they were overjoyed to have had such an opportunity. W When our coach Miss McCaffrey called for Volley Ball players. about thirty responded. Out of that number were chosen the eight which now con- stitute the team. They are all lfreshies, except one, but when it corners to playing they get there just the same. When the subject. Volley Ball, is mentioned, the iirst question that comes to mind is. How many games did you win? Well, we won eight 1 twelve, giving ns third place in the league, which consists of teams from Wil- liamsport. Smithsburg. Hancock, Clearspring and Iloonsboro. The t given the honor oi winning the games, Yes, they plunged in with all their might, fought and worked for their school. But then we must not forge backing which the School gave them. When all the games were played i ing squads gathered on all sides of thc court and yelled for Fingers Groups at a time assembled and gave those old familiar yells. How en l . It made the games have some extra liie in them. but above ing tiey were all led ns to our goal. mt of ez.m is t the cheer- lawn. courag- v Although we stand third in the league now, wc still have a Cl'li1I1CE for iirst place. The girls have practiced every possible day. during the winter. so they will be in trim for the spring season. Then-Lookout for Hagerstown, be- cause we are going out for the championship Right We are going tio iight until we have accomplished that. which we have so long striven for- Victory.
