An Inter-class Basketball contest was sponsored by a large number of members and a cup was awarded to the Senior Team. The Association also gave presents to the coaches as a reward lor their valued guidance in athletic training. Football Review The Hagerstown Hi won the C. V. Athletic League Championship for the first time in the history of the school. Much of the success of this season was due to the football camp at Cale- donia, under the supervision of Coaches Pofiinberger and Wilson. Upon re' turning to school, practice was held daily at Willow Lane Park. The First game was played at Shepherd College. Although it was not a victory from the standpoint of scoring it helped Coach Poftinberger very much in finding the weak spots in the lineup and it showed him that the team had true Iighting spirit which every winning team must have. The next two games which were League Games, proved to be easy vic- tories ior the Local Eleven. The fourth game which was played with Winchester Hi another member of the League was a game which will go down in History as the best played and most exciting game ever witnessed at Willow Lane Park. With but two minutes to go Dorsey. our local half-back intercepted a forward pass and dash- ed fifty-tive yards down thc held for the winning touchdown. Our game with Gettysburg Academy was played in at foot of snow. Never before had our team experienced such playing conditions. With the deciding game of the C. V. A. L. but a week off, practices were held each evening until the moon made its appearance. When the team went on the field, they had but two thoughts, to win or lose fighting. As a result the team was victorious thus making them Champions of the C. V. Athletic League. This game was played at Martinsburg. Although some of our most valuable players will be lost through gradua- tion. the prospects for a championship team next year are very bright. Th: following players will graduate, Captain Gordon, Ex. Captain Hutzell, Biklf, Winters, Chaney. Cosens, Schellhase and Schroyer. We wish to extend a vote of thanks to Coaches Poftinberger and Brown for their unceasing services to our team. Gaines AT W.
