Intramurals 1962 While the soccer and cross-country teams were hard at work in the afternoon, another breed could be spotted on the plains of Washington: Intramural Combatants. The editor of the To- ronto GLOBE AND MAIL delivered a speech and handled a very informative discussion on the nature of our Canadian neighbors, their attitudes and their outlook on the United States. Concerts , Charley Byrd, the man who brought Bossa Nova to the United States, wowed a W.C. audience for the second year in a row. Conferences . . . Scientists came from all over the East to partici- pate in a winter conference at W.C. Stunt Night ON STAGE WITH . . Kappa Alpha - What ' s My Crime? ' . . . The three stars of Theta Chi ' s Tribute to George M. Cohan show the form that brought second prize in the fraternity competition. Stunt Night M.C. Tom Osmanski delivers a between-the-acts song from Americana (?). The frosh execute their stinging commentary on the state of affairs in the ranks of the up- perclassmen. 1962 Penny Brown leads the Zetas to first prize in the sorority competition as Alice in Wonderland . The stage show was, as the audience agreed, a lot better than the book. The Alpha Chi ' s conjure up voices from the past in their skit. A dazzling production greeted the audience when the AOPi ' s took the stage. Their stunt garnered sec- ond prize in the sorority division. The Lambdas gave the audiences split sides with their skit. Stunt Night ' 62 was a true example of what the resourceful minds of college students can produce. All the acts were good and the competition was close. The winner in the fraternity division was PHI SIGMA KAPPA who produced a hilarious si- lent film complete with piano music. Since no picture could be taken of the film, we couldn ' t put it in the book. All we can say is, Go see it ' . MC Osmanski is joined by Gail Fischer in a round of crowd -pleasing folksongs. The MC awards the la-urel wreath and loving cup to Hurley Cox, winner of the Ugly Man Contest. Renowned Mime, Frans Reyders captivated the community with his mas- tery of one of the world ' s oldest arts: pantomime. This Was The Week That Was: the day everyone went to Dunning Labs to get their blood typed. Winter signals the end of the annual rites of Rush and How-am-1- going-to-study-for exa ms ? But somehow, everybody found a little time for diversion. Old Saint Nick got onto the campus and gave the kids from the area an afternoon they won ' t forget. For fifty years, Tom has coached or performed a related duty for his boys at W. C. bringing many fine athletes and a great many championships to Chestertown in the pro- cess. The dinner was a great affair, but, as someone said there, it could never begin to completely honor so much service: Tom Kibler has helped Washington College become what it is today. We thank him. Coach Kibler does a little reminiscing with Cur ley Byrd (L), former President of the University of Maryland, and Dr. Gibson, W. C. President.
