The Washburn Art Department received First Award in the State College Art Competition at the Kansas Free Fair this year. Figires, still-lifes and landscapes, as well as work in designs, commercial layouts, posters, Christmas cards and cartoons, were included. First, second and third prizes in amateur oils, and second and third prizes in Water colors went to separate entries by Washburnites. Special free art and educational sound fihns have been featured in the Mulvane Art Museum Theatre this year, open to students, faculty and the public.
