Fruends of Washburn Hugh Should Know DR PARLLY P WOMER Pre ldent of the f1ret School Board of Washburn A group of men devoted to the educatlonal needs of the young people of then' communxty met 1n 1917 to dmscuss the possxblhty of a hxgh school These men were Dr P P Womer, Ira Rom1g, Fred Seaman, R C Obrecht, and EdBuckman. From th1s meetlng developed the school whxch today we proudly cla1m our own. A board was selected w1th Dr. Womer, then head of Washburn College, as presldent and Ira Romlg and Harry R Logan as the other members. To Dr Womer goes much of the cred1t for the foundmg and for the success of the school m xts begxnmng Although 1n recent years he has not been able to gxve the school h1S act1ve attention, h1s mterest ln 1ts welfare has never wavered U I ,. gzfljfx- ,., r '- .
