ACT l Any Morning 7:40 As curtain rises, Miss McGee is holding the door to the rear of the stage open as Mrs. Morgan and Miss Jones enter. Miss Jones is humming a catchy tune, and she and Miss McGee try out the operetta dance steps on their way across stage. Mrs. Morgan consults a memo- randum and murmurs, Before school I must see Mr. McElroy, Cookson, Jackie, Marilynn .... 7:55 Mr. McElroy enters west door, unlocks outer office, hangs up hat, unlocks inner office, opens safe, unfolds newspaper, makes out tuition receipt, reads absence excuse, answers this, explains that, draws a deep breath - ha! ha! the day has begun. 7:58 Miss Steele enters south door, takes off coat, greets the cooks, puts on her coat, and starts off for store. 8:00 North door opens to admit Mr. Piper, who makes his way across stage with Hello , Good Morning , Hi , Good Morning , Hello to right and left. 8:05 Mr. Haun approaches from south, Mr. Cookson from north, Mr. Ross from east, and a three cornered panel is held at north end of stage . By degrees they reach the office, linger awhile, and gradually drift in the direction of their several rooms. Mr. Howbert is now seen mounting stairs to the north. Sound of voices increases in volume until a loud bell is heard. Silence and each teacher disappears behind a closed door. JEAN E.
