Welcome Week Wows Washburn Welcome Week, which is designed to welcome Freshmen, new students, and staff, began on September 9th and ended September 13th. Everyone was treated to a hearty dose of Miller spirit. This year's Welcome Week festivities were kicked off on Monday, by the traditional Pep Fest. Tuesday saw the Millers sporting sunglasses and hats, ranging from cowboy hats to sombreros. Wednesday, the halls were packed with Washburnites wearing turbans and boxer shorts. Thursday, was dubbed nerd or Freshman day. Millers dressed in high waters , taped up glasses and saddle shoes to show their spirit. Friday was the day seniors had been waiting for since they were freshmen, Rent-a-Senior Day. For a mere two bits freshmen could rent a senior for a day. The seniors took their masters out to breakfast at Perkins or Embers. The freshmen made their slaves dress up in funky clothes, such as babies, transvestites, and yes, even a flasher ! The week ended with a rockin dance, performed by No Hands Clock, and A Few. The hip tunes possessed almost everyone to dance with complete craziness! All in all. Welcome Week was pretty darn groovy.
