Counselors ROW 1: F. Voigt ROW 2: C. McKinnie. R. Treacy, V. Russell J. Donovan Robert Treacy - 1920-1982 Mr. Treacy arrived at Washburn at the beginning of this year in the mass faculty exchange caused by school closings. All students benefit from the numerous services offered by the counseling staff. In addition to giving advice and keeping track of credits earned, counselors provide an excellent service for students pursuing additional educational opportunities as they prepare transcripts and assemble various recommendations. Counselgrams and senior homerooms complete the ongoing services provided from this department. Jane Donovan, the Chemical Awareness Counselor, offers counseling to students who either have family members with chemical problems, or who themselves have problems. She leads support groups and an Alateen group. A new part of her job this year was helping athletes understand their commitment of not using chemicals while participating in athletics. He chose to come to Washburn to accept a new challenge in his thirtieth year as a teacher, coordinator, and counselor in the Minneapolis Public Schools. Washburn students and faculty, though knowing him for only a brief period of time, are better having met this unusual man.

Lunch Aides The lunchroom cooks arrive early in the morning to prepare hundreds of lunches for hungry Washburn students. After three hectic lunches daily, they return the next day to start the process all over again. Changing menus and experimenting with different foods is a testimonial to their efforts. F. Pederson, H. Love, L. Kramer, R. Larson. W. Widga, C. Mildenberger. Mgr. F. Ballinger Engineers Head Engineer Marty Gavanda retired at the winter break after twenty-four years at Washburn. His dedication to the Washburn students and faculty was greatly missed. The entire engineering staff with their patience and understanding create the atmosphere to which the Washburn student body has become accustomed and takes for granted. 12 A. Burke, M. Gavanda. D.
