LADD ’N HEIDI PETER ’N BETSY FRIENDSHIP DANCE Who’s the Mcfriendliest guy in town? Who’s the Mcchccriest fellow around? Who is the funniest? Whose smile is sunniest? No, not Ronald McDonald! In the revival of the Friendship Royalty, it was decided that Heidi, Ladd, Betsy, Peter, Katy, Bill, Sue, and Brian met up to these tough qualifications. Preceding the coronation ceremonies everyone was entertained by the winter sport teams’ presentations, which were remarkably humorous. The crowd went into an uproar when the gymnasts enticed a few unsuspecting guys into joining their exercises (Mr. Clifford Johnson proved to be more agile than we had believed!) The festivities ended that night with a dance. Music was supplied by Special Sounds. BILL ’N KATY BRIAN ’N SUE 17

DAISY MAE AND LIL’ ABNER About 550 students had a good time, dogpatch style, at Washburn’s annual Sadie Hawkins dance on Friday, November 10. As soon as word of the event got out, the girls began stalking the po’ unfortunate soul they were fixin’ to drag to the dance. Among the kneeslappin’, foot stompin’ fun at this year’s Sadie were a whole ton of games, a gym for dancin’, and even places to get hitched for the night. The dance was the product of many weeks of preparation by the Grist Staff and members of the Newswriting Class. Sadie helps underwrite publication costs, and this year’s festivities grossed $1,757.75 for the Grist piggybank. 19
