Mr. Schauer teaches students new techniques. Art Encourages Self-Expression Through art students gain a new dimension in self-expression. They learn to communicate their ideas of reality in various shapes and forms. Under the supervision of Mr. Schauer. students in Washburn's art classes were taught a variety of techniques. Advanced classes worked with clay sculpture and acrylics and experimented in op art. During the winter students also had the unique opportunity of sculpting in ice. Beginning students, on the other hand, received instruction in various mediums of drawing. The works of three Washburn students were selected for an international art tour. The students, seniors Mary Cripps. Dawn Gessner, and Steve Yerigan. depicted various aspects of Minneapolitan life. Their pieces will tour South America. Europe, and the United States until 1969.
