A. E. MACQUARRIE MEMORIAL AWARDS Dan Chorzempa, Dianne Lindrkog, and Gavin Wright HONORABLE MENTION The students are chosen for the A. E. MacQuarric Awards on the basis of their creative ability. A trust fund left in the memory of Mr. MacQuarric, Washburn’s first principal, provides for the awards. Patriotism, service, leadership, and dependability are the qualifications for the Sons of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Revolution Awards. The senior class chooses the boy and girl to receive the Washburn Service Awards. The Rausch and Lomb Award is given on the basis of progress in scientific study. The qualifications for the Leonard Moses Award are posture, character, and athletic leadership. The boy and girl who show greatest promise of a successful future arc chosen for the First National Bank Award. The Rose Reese International Understanding Award is presented by the World Affairs Council to a student who has promoted the cause of better understanding among the nations of the world. The recipient of the Star and Tribune Award must show leadership, character, anti service besides maintaining a “B” average in school.
