Regular English instruction is offered the other semester. Seniors may choose between regular English, creative writing, or business English. Each one of these classes studies English literature, but emphasis is placed on different aspects of English in the other parts of the course. MATH AND SCIENCE Math is taken by almost all Washburn students. Geometry, advanced algebra, solid geometry and trigonometry are usually taken in the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades, respectively. Accelerated courses arc very popular among the mathematically inclined students. In the accelerated program, sophomores take plain geometry and solid geometry in one year. Juniors take advanced algebra and trigonometry in one year. In their last year, seniors take college math. Science is stressed at Washburn since, with the coming of the space ago, it will play an important part in our future. Although the science program varies somewhat, biology is usually taken by sophomores, physics by juniors, and chemistry by seniors. Biology ami chemistry are the two most popular sciences.
