We, the Senior Class of 1983, wish to dedicate the annual to Mrs. Joanne Kumpula. Joanne Wulff was born January 28, 1957. She graduated from Lakeland Union High School in Woodruff, Wisconsin in 1975. She then attended U.W.-Stout and graduated with a degree in Home Economics. In 1979, Mrs. Kumpula began teaching in Washburn. She married Gary Kumpula on Oc- tober 6,1982. Joe graduated in 1974 with a degree in Industrial Education and is presently working on his Master's Degree In 1976. Mr. Russo began teaching in Washburn He married Gail Yeiser on June 24.1972. A F S 41 F B L A On Februaiy 6, WHS hosted Region I competition for Future Business Leaders of America. Over 570 students and advisors were in attendance. Karl Nelson. Vice-President, presided over opening and closing ceremonies. Students competed against 30 schools in approx- imately 20 different catagories from parliamentary procedures to typing. Washburn was 3rd overall in business subjects in our region and 6th place in business subjects throughout the State of Wisconsin. The WHS chapter of FBLA would like to take this opportunity to thank Washburn Public Schools faculty, administration, school board, secretaries, bookkeeper, cooks, janitors, students and friends of FBLA who made the year so successful through their support.
