Text from Pages 1 - 104 of the 1981 volume:

Every year of our life can be made into a puzzle. With each activity, each friend, each achievement, and each disappointment fitting together as separate pieces of the high school puzzle. No year is ever complete until the final “piece” of life’s puzzle has been set in place. This school year has been arranged so that all the classes, sports, and activities are small sec- tions of a puzzle. The final piece of the puzzle is set into place and the school year of 1981 is completed. 1 2 Our frarlnw leader! The Senior Class of 1981 would like to sincerely thank Mr. James C. Strom for all of the help and encouragement he gave us throughout our entire high school career. At times our appreciation of him did not completely show, but it was never doubted and always waiting for the right moment to shine through. When the 1981 Senior Class said, “Farewell Mr. Strom,” it was said from our hearts. WE, THE CLASS OF 1981, DEDICATE OUR YEARBOOK TO: Mr. Fuse Mr. Fuse was born May 10, 1947. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1965. In 1970, he graduated from the University of North- ern Michigan, Marquette, with a B.A. degree in English and Social Studies. After college, he studied in Europe toward his Master’s Degree. Mr. Fuse has been teaching in Washburn for 11 years. His hobbies are: studying foreign languages, all sports, traveling throughout the world, meeting people, and studying their cultures. We the Class of 1981, would like to thank Mr. Fuse for all the help he has given us, both as a teacher and as an advisor. 3 TABLE OF CONTENTS Faculty 8 Seniors 14 Juniors 32 Sophomores 36 Freshmen 42 School Activities 44 Sports 63 Advertising 84 HIGH QUIZ BOWL TEAM Members: Jim Utegaard John Anderson Terrance Niska Karl Nelson ADVISOR: Mr. Dale Foulke ALTERNATE: Mia Meyer ADMINISTRATION School Board of Wasburn Public Schools — Seated L to R: Mr. Constantine Carlos Director; Mr. Markham Fischer Clerk; Mrs. Dorothy Volak — Treasurer; Mrs. Eunace Schwensfeier — Vice President; and Mr. Robert Olson — President.
