Sckoot Cla t ci 1177 Mr. Lavern Basina We the Senior Class of 1977 proudly dedi- cate this year's Chequamegon Annual to someone who has been a fantastic adviser for the past four years and to a group of people who deserve much more - Mr. Lavern Basina and our parents. Mr. Basina became our adviser when we were Freshmen. He saw us through a car wash that year, he also managed to pull us through selling Tom Watt Kits when we were Sopho- mores; he stuck behind us through Homecom- ing and Prom: and even as we prepared for graduation, we found him giving all the help and support he possibly could. When we look back on our high school years. I'm sure we’ll not only remember Mr. Basina as our adviser and of all the activities he helped us through but rather for his outstanding personality, his smile, and his friendliness. It seems impossible to know how to start or even where to start thanking our parents for everything they've done for us. How do you thank someone for all the love, protection, and security they've given you. saying thank- you just doesn’t seem like enough. This year the Seniors are dedicating the annual also to our parents to express a very small amount of our appreciation and gratitude. A million thanks goes out to our parents and to Mr. Basina for everything they’ve done. It wasn't very big, but the people seemed to enjoy every minute of it! Then the best moment of Home- coming came, when around 4:00 P.M. our GREAT W.H.S. The staff spent many hours selling concessions at all Football and Basketball games, selling ads to local busi- nessmen and typing running-off programs for ALL athletic events! The 1977 yearbook is a combined effort of a hardworking editorial staff - staffed by Seniors. The rest of the staff consists of dedicated Juniors, Sophomores and Freshmen. We can see it all now - the crowded smoke filled room churning with outbursts of laughter and the smell of Geritol on the lips of them all. Look! Over there! Isn't that ROSEMARY ANDERSON? Who would have thought 50 years ago that she would take over her family's business stores, specializing in the sale of families. And there is DORIS ANDERSON, founder of the new method of taking intelligence quotients. Doris thought she'd give the new test her own initials so now she is founder of the da test. Who is the man with his feet in the fish bowl? Isn't is CHRIS BEEKSMA? I think that the bartender should cut him off. The years certainly have taken their toll on some of these class members. Who is that crazed woman over there swinging her purse, full of rocks? It's DENISE VIVIAN FLEIG. You sure can see how well she suits her job at the zoo. Vicki offered to style a few of her old buddies hair but to her surprise, they were all bald! So, she just buffed them a bit. Oh! Look! There is country western singer Straw Hay Twitty (for- merly LORA NIEMISTO). I hear a few years back she was invited to sing at the Grand Ole Opry, but she, regrettingly, had to turn the offer down because her horse kept stealing the show. JULIE NOURSE used to work at a soda fountain in a Drug Store until she got a little older and slower. One day she froze up with her arm in the butter brickie.
