OJBQLPME ON 1975 WctskbuMt f-ftgh QduxJL WaslibuAiv, WiSCCH Uv_ People are what make up the memories of our high school years. For the seniors, this year is possibly the last one we will be together as a group. It should be remembered as a very imponant year and a very good year. Washburn High has a great faculty and we have them to thank for the education they have provided us with, along with out principal and superintend- ent. The students themselves are what make Washburn High what it is and this yearbook represents everyone. The yearbook staff has worked hard to put together this year's book of memories. Thanks to all of them, the photographer, and our advisor for all the help. This year stu- dents submitted designs for our yearbook cover. We would like to thank all who took the time to do so, espe- cially Keith Swanson whose design was chosen. Jane Lindsey Financial Manager Mr. Schlichting Advisor Patti Sadonis Editor Peter Sneed Sports Editor Anne Gamich Copy Editor Tom Maassen Assistant Editor Qetu tS Dedicafojfie, We, the Senior Class of 1975, proudly dedicate this annual to two people who mean a lot to us: Mr. Mike Murray, and Miss Anona Nelson. Both of them have taken a great interest in our class and we'd like them to know how much we appre- ciate it. Mr. Murray stepped in as our class advisor our Junior year, and since then he has done a lot to help and support our class. We would like to thank him for what he’s done for us. Mr. Murray was born August 2, 1948, in Fre- deric, Wis. He graduated from Webster High School with the class of 1966. In 1970 he married Carol Gannon. They now have three kids: Nicole - 4 years old: Trisha - 3 years old; and Mike, Jr. - 2 years old. Mr. Murray graduated from the University of Superior in 1973 with a Broad Area Major in Music. He was active in a jazz-rock group while attending school and after gradua- tion. 4 97S Miss Nelson, more commonly known as 'Home- room,' is a great friend to all of us. She backs the students in all the sports, and is a familiar face at all the basketball games. When attending the games, it seems like she’s a part-time chauffeur and pan-time photographer! Miss Nelson was bom in Portland, Oregon and lived there until the age of 16, when she moved to Grantsburg, Wisconsin. In 1966 she graduated from Grantsburg High School. Miss Nelson attended Ponland State University for a quarter, and then transferred to the University of Wisconsin - Stout in 1967. She graduated from Stout with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics Education. Since graduation in 1970, Miss Nelson has taught here at Washburn High. 5 6 FRONT ROW, Left to Right: Mr. Schlichting, Advisor, Nathan Meyer, Dave Potts, Jim Leino, Randy Fleig, Peter Sneed, Tom Maassen. 2nd ROW: Debbie Gasperini, Sandy Guski, Cheryl Truchon, Eileen Anderson, Debbie Guski, Lu-Anne Garnich, Patti Sadonis. 3rd ROW: Jackie Zimmerman, Janelle Rubatt, Terry William- son, Brenda Dashner, Jane Lindsey, Doris Anderson. The results of much of our efforts are found in the pages of this book. But beyond the many hours of preparation for this annual, the staff has worked dili- gently on many other projects. The sale of ads, movies, and concessions have all made this book possible. This year the staff raised over $2,000.00. I want to take this opportunity to thank our editor, Patti Sadonis. Her pleasant personality and willingness to work will never be forgotten by myself or the staff. 1 would also like to thank Jane Lindsey who for three years has handled the sale of our annuals. The annual staff has a bright future ahead. 1 look forward with pleasure to working with Tom Maa«en editor nf the lQ7fi rhe ANNUAL STAFF OFFICERS: Dave Potts - Photographer, Patti Sadonis - Editor, Maassen, editor ot tne 19 lb cne- Lu_Anne Garnich . Some peo- ple did get a few hours sleep on the 12-hour ride which led us through Minnesota, North Dakota and on into Canada. Friday was a shopping day for us in Winnipeg at a large Mall. In the evening we enjoyed the swimming pool, whirlpool and sauna. Saturday and Sunday were our sight-seeing days. We visited Lower Fort Gary, which is a historic fur trading fort, a Russian Orthodox Church, the zoo, a paddleboat ride, the planetarium, and museum. Monday was the day to return, so the 26 students and 5 chaperones boarded the bus with the things we had purchased and the wonderful memories of our class trip. The variety was attributed to each play being unique in setting and plot. One (WHITE QUEEN, RED QUEEN), was based on the 16th Century timing of Henry the Eighth. The scene was in the throne room of Queen Katherine where she met with the pompous Ann Boelyn. The second play (MID- DLE OF NOWHERE) was a suspense ladened plot sprinkled with bits of comedy. The last play (IMPROMPTU) dealt with the con- temporary, thought provoking idea of life as a stage, the audience - society, and the stage manager - God. The plays were given two nights in the high school gym and as a matinee to the grade school chil- dren. The plays were also presented to students of Ashland High School as an incentive to motivate drama in Ashland. The play IMPROMPTU won the local contest and received a ”B at the subdistrict.
