They also need memories, memories to be kept and cher- ished until that day when they can once again be taken out, so that you can look back on the days when you were in school and having so much fun with some of the oldest and dearest friends tha t you will have had in your entire life. Te empo, 5 6 7 DEDICATION OF 1972 CHEQUAMECON We, the Senior Class of 1972 dedicate this annual to a very fine person, Mr. Bruce Rapps. Bruce Rapps gradu a ted from Lakeland Union High School in 1958 in Woodruff and from North- land College in 1963 with a B.S- degree in Biology and a minor in gcography geology. He began his teaching career at Fort Atkinson in the fallof 1963. He married Kathy Collins in 1963 and they have four children, Tom, Mary, David, and Lisa. HecametoW.H.S. in 1967 and he received his Masters in Physical Science at W.S.U. Su- perior in 1969. Ever since we were Freshmen, we feel that there has been one individual who has proved to be a most deserving recipient. He is not always an easy-going guy, but he has shown special in- terest in our class and in us as in- dividuals. Homecoming was Oct. 9, with music by the' Living Dead . It was a fun evening. ”TS.R. set the mood for our prom, FRIENDS LOVERS on May 13th. The Jr.-Sr. Banquet was held in the cafeteria on May 18. We would like to thank those sopho- more girls and Jr. mothers who helped to make it a success, and also Mrs. Meyer, who gave an ex- cellent talk on tradition . We started the year by electing our reliable class officers. With the date of Homecoming ap- proaching we elected Annette Bmneau for our queen candidate. We worked very hard on our home- coming float entitled, Sink the Buccanneers. However, we re- ceived third place because un- fortunately, it fell apart before the parade. Our queen candidate was Patti Sadonis and was selected Homecoming Queen 72 . Our float won first place and was en- titled Nail Em . Activities resumed on Saturday with another parade down main street in which the Freshman float, Nail 'em, took first place. Following the parade, the Cas- tle Guards played host to the Prentice Buccaneers. The men played hard, but unfortunately lost the game 8-33. The Homecoming weekend ended with a dance sponsored by the Juniors. There were ten first place winners in this contest and these students, along with eight second place win- ners, participated in the Sub-district Meet at Ondos- sagon High School on March 11. Of these, David Albeis, Luanne Guski, Mike Hamois, Linda Karaba, Sherie Lowe, Mary Smolen, Patti Smolen, and Amy Thoreson won A ratings and went to the Dis- trict Meet in Superior on March 25. Of these, Dave, Luanne, Mike and Patti participated in the State Speech Contest on April 22. Dave, Mike and Patti won A's and Luanne received a B. JUNIOR-SENIOR BANQUET 1972 Jr i O.K. Tony, your time is up 11! This year the Juniors honored the Seniors at the annual banquet held in the high school cafe- teria on May 18. The buffet style dinner was a huge success as there was no food left over. The opening prayer was given by the Senior class president, Tony Woiak. Kate Lindsey, the Junior class president, intro- duced the speaker for the evening, Mrs. Neil Meyer, who gave an en- lightening talk on tradition. Dan Coming, John Peterson, Tony Woiak, Dave Pearson, and Jim Maassen qualified for State, with Dan coming in 5th in the high hurdles and Dave coming in 6th in the long jump. At the Conference Meet May 17 our guys set 4 conference records (long jump, high hurdles, mile relay, and 880 relay.) Coaches’ Comment: Had a good season.
