CHEQUAMEGON ’71 EDITOR'S MESSAGE High school is a time for me- mories. Memories to be cherish- ed in years to come. It is a time of joy and sorrow; laughter and tears; victory and defeat. It is a time of leadership, of striving for goals. Though the faces of Washburn High School are many and varied; they reflect you, the student body. You ARE the me- mories. So it is to you, the stu- dents of Washburn High School, that we, the C HEQU A MEG ON staff, present . . . REFLECTIONS OF 1971 A special note of thanks goes to Mr. John Albers and M . Jerry Kinnunen for the Photography work that captures these many memorable times. People . . . students . . . expand the ideas found in textbooks. Through our classes we learn to meet challenges, memorize facts, create solutions, and question what seems wrong. We learn to rely on our own judgement, and in- crease our ability to keep an open mind. We continually search for knowledge. Behind every victor- ious team, there are many faithful supporters led by the cheerleaders. They set fine example of school spirit and let our boys know that they’re doing a great job. Giv- ing boosting support throughout the year were Jolene, Diane, and Susan who will be leaving be- cause they are seniors. Hopefully next years cheerleaders will keep the school spirit alive as this year’s cheerleaders did. 80
