Yes, many attri- butes that lead to success are present in early life - moreover - many can be cul- tivated with sincere desire of purpose. The difficulties of our task and even many reverses along the way are incon- sequential if we keep constantly at our task and keep faith. Success will crown our efforts. If headed in the right direc- tion, we will reach the goal we have set in life. FOURTH ROW: Larry Stone, Arthur Truchon, Curt Dittbrenner, Jim Potter, Tom Niemi, Paul Truchon. Senior C) ass JJropJiecy 1980 The offices of the Washburn Times fairly hum with activity as the co-editors, Larry Stone and Curt Dittbrenner, put the finishing touches on a special edition dedicated to that now famous class of 1960. Numbered in its ranks we find many illustrious personalities ranging from pizza queens to the first woman President. Let's glance over their shoulders and steal a preview. Pizza Queens Ginger Warren and Sandy Hudson have recently opened a pizza stand on the Amazon River and a thriving business has been established. Hostess, Karen Rose and the Secretary of Space, Mary Stephenson, are pictured welcom- ing dignitaries from Mars to Earth. The caption reads, The President of Mars, Mr. Ernest Maunu, and his wife, the former Helen Wolf, are here for a short vacation on Earth. Accompaning them is Jim Potter who is here to demonstrate the advanced techniques in growing good pill trees. Tips for the Homemaker is the byline column of Polly Anderson. Polly reports that at a recent fashion show she attended, Pat Benedict and Janice Truchon were modeling the latest paper dresses. Many of the fashions had been designed by that well-known de- signer, Jan Lampella. Jean Howell is credited with having perfected an effec- tive method of sewing on paper. Ace reporter. Bill Nelson, reports on the recent interplanetary space race he covered in which, Don Guski and Harlan Hudson edged out Paul Truchon and Wayne Roy for the trophy. Blues singer, Carol Sorenson, recently completed a successful tour of the New York night club cir- cuit . Her last two recordings have sold over a million copies which makes 25 gold records to her credit. Beverly Hebert has again for the fourth straight con- secutive year placed first in gymnastics for the United States at the Olympics. Karin Holman, the widely acclaimed poet Laureate of Greenwich Village, has recently published a book of her most popular poems. Philanthropist, Tom Niemi, and his wife, the former Phyllis Lukasiewicz, have just returned from a two month’s stay on the French Riviera, and are now residing in the Niemi manor on Washington Avenue. Jon Bratley, was elected President of the National Organization of Cremators at their convention held recently in New York City. Mrs. Bratley, the former Kathleen Bachand, accompanied her husband on the trip to do some buying for her very exclusive dress shop. Bill Anderson, manager of the Anderson Research Laboratories, announces a discovery by his chief re- search scientist Linda Pristash. She has discovered a stabilizer for the overnight reducing pills already on the market. Previously, a pill might become over- active and one ran the risk of disappearing. The most sensational news is the election of a woman President. Miss Sandra Lund, a former senator and ambas- sador, was elected by an overwhelming majority as President of the United States. Her husband, Mike Pedersen, who is a forest ranger, says he is delighted with his wife's success. The prominence attained by the members of the Class of 1960, will surely stand out above the rest in the annuals of Washburn High.
