Senior () ass JJropfiecij It is early morn of September 1, 1975, and in the distance can be seen the outline of Washburn High School. Just outside is Mr. Albers about to take a ride in his new Ford, a jet-propelled, automatic space ship. As he blasts off, the school is left behind. He switches on his cosmo-matic radio and an eery sound comes forth. It is the voice of our former songbird, Ethel Niska, and her Moongo Woongo Band broadcasting from Doucette ville, Mars. The town was named Doucetteville after our friend, Jeanette, who married Bob Ville the Mayor. As Mr. Albers cruises along, he notices his supply of atomic fuel is running out. So he pulls up to Fergie's Shell Atomic Fuel station and gets a new supply. Tending the pumps is John Lester Jr. taking right after his father. While they are at the station, in blast Mr. and Mrs. Don Pearson. Mrs. Pearson, you know, is the former Jane Gago. Mr. Albers asked Jane what happened to her dear friend, Karlyn Welton. Jane answers, Karlyn now has her own bakery and is making supercharged, sugar-coated doughnut pills. Mr. Albers now continues on his way. Two thousand, three thousand, four thousand miles a second 1 A bit over the speed limit, but merely cruising. A siren blasts I He pulls over to a near meteor and who should come striding over but Captain of the Space Patrol, John Allen Celmer, presenting him a ticket. Mr. Albers follows John to the nearest patrol station. At the desk is Robert Johnson, chief prosecutor. Robbie rings a buzzer and Patrolman Ross enters. Denny was just voted Patrolman of the Universe. Mr. Albers is finally released and resumes his journey to the moon. As he travels along, he gets hungry. He decides to stop at Dick's Rocket Stop to get a bite to eat. Gloria Steen, the waitress, now married to Dick Peterson, the proprietor, serves a delicious meal. He reaches the moon and parks his rocket at Don Olson's parking lot. Mr. Albers decides to pay a visit to the Lunar General Hospital to visit Dr. John Amrein, head of the hospital staff. John, taking him on a tour of the hospital, runs into Mary Ellen Arnson and Diann Cuty who are full fledged registered nurses. They are as- sisting Patsy Zanto to the x-ray room for an x-ray, which will be administered by the best little technician of the moon, Mrs. David Bratley, the former Ellen Smith. Mr. Albers, suddenly realizing that Jeanie is waiting supper for him at home, blasts off for earth immediately. After dinner, he turns on the TV to tune in the Miss Universe contest. To his aston- ishment, who should be acting as judge but Joseph Pikus. The crowning of the queen is taking place. The queen is none other than Judy Lampella. Suddenly, the telephone rings. Roberta Malcheski, now editor of the Washburn Times, is looking for a scoop on the latest board meeting. Mr. Albers, now superin- tendent, gives her a report on the new teachers, Karen Frechette, Physical Education; and Terry Hof fines, Chemistry. He also mentions that he has hired a new private secre- tary, Janice Olson. Finishing the phone call, he settles back to enjoy a magazine. A tricky little verse catches his eye. He discovers it is by David Ledin, a poetic genius. Just then Weegie comes home on his Gauger motorcycle named from the model by Clyde Gauger. Weegie has a date with Butchia Gonzaloes, the daughter of the former Karen Larson. Weegie and Butchia are going out for a fish fry at Bodin's Sea-Side Inn, owned and operated by Edna Bodin. Mr. Albers reluctantly bids the kids farewell. After supper, Mr. and Mrs. Albers take a walk down to Kerry's Cafe and Cocktail Lounge. As they arrive, a dance contest is just beginning. Sandra Bratley and James Palm have just begun their famous space-hop bop. They should surely win with thatl Mr. Albers happens to glance over at the counter where Lee Arntsen is sitting, sipping sarsaparilla and talking to Maxine Rogers, who is now his bride. Upon leaving Kerry's place, Mr. and Mrs. Albers happen to pass Niemisto's Beauty Salon. Gloria now specializes in men's hair styles. Looking into the window, they see George Williamson receiving the latest haircut. George is now the president of the Williamson’s Co-operative and is happily married. Returning home, Mr. Albers reviews the events of the day. Now well pleased and satisfied with the class of '57, he settles down to making future Washburn High classes as successful as our class has been.
