The beginners band began the concert with a few selections, and then the concert band continued entertaining the public with a delightful musical repertoire. In the Spring, the band combined with the chorus for a Spring Concert. For the tenth consecutive year, our band has received an A rating at the District Music contest. This record of consecutive A ratings has been made possible under the capable direction of Mr. Streitz. The first event the chorus presented this year was a combined program with the band on Veteran ' s Day. A very impressive Christmas Concert was given in December. Members of the Speech Club portrayed the Nativity Scene. In order to raise money toward a new gown fund, the chorus presented a Minstrel Show on February 26 and 28. It was the first time our Chorus has attempted anything like this. It was really a lot of fun. From the many fine comments we received, the public en- joyeditvery much and requested that we repeat sev- eral of the songs for the Annual Spring Concert. The Chorus and Band combined again for the Spring Con- cert. This was the last public performance for the Seniors. Many thanks go to Mr. Iverson for his patience and fine direction. Activities started with the crowning of Queen Sally Keane by Charles Robinson and Bob Wendt. Coach Neal Davis introduced the team, and a pep rally led by the cheerleaders followed. A parade followed the program with Floats from all classes and organizations. The game started at 8:30 at Community Field. Black-N-Blue Earth was the slogan and that we did! ! An alumni dance followed the game; the gym was decorated like a min- ature football field. Mr. and Mrs. Neal Davis were crowned, honorary king and queen. Attendants: Sandra Warner, Barbara Osmundson, Karen Kratochwill, Charlene Newman, Janet Below, Queen Sally Keane. Winning the prize for the best float were the Sen- iors. Their float signified the two years as Con- ference Champs and expecting to make it their third. The football team watches as Queen Sally and her attendants take their places on the royal throne. 54 Junior-Senior Reception Snowflakes filled the air as we came to the Sno Ball on December 15. The program started with some very appropriate songs, Frosty, the Snow- man and Silver Bells, by the Senior Trio and the Snowbelles. Next we were brought to the halls of dear old Central in an amusing skit called You Are There. We saw the presentation of the S.C.C. gold footballs. It seems that the best players are girls; only one boy ended up with his football. We saw our teachers in and out of the classroom, Elvis Presley, Guy Mitchell and the cat . Of course the Reception would not be complete without a visit from Santa Claus. The Sno-Boys and Sno-Girls helped Santa pass out gifts. The remainder of the evening was spent dancing to the music of Marv Tenoff. At the magic hour of midnight the snow- flakes came tumbling down. And so ended another wonderful evening. 55 Yearbook Dance Ivalee Burmeister, Rita Cawley, Gwen Pratt, Queen Darlene Paulson, King John King, Bob Johnson, Dan Koechel, Gary Hoberg. Among the creative dances were The Happy Wanderer by five ninth grade girls, Can Can byseven sophomore girls, and a real cute Char- leston by five junior girls. Steve Noetzel, Jerry Manke, and Dave Pet- erson entertained with two pantomimes. Miss Bushey and Mr. Aamot deserve much thanks for the work they and the students did to present this display of cotumes and fine dancing. Three juniors go Calypso crazy. The cool, crazy 1920 ' s. Dugan, professor of psychology at the University of Minnesota. Then Mr. Nygaard talked to the seniors, as a group, for the last time. He left them this parting thought. There are two kinds of people: those who get the credit, and those who get the job done. It is better to be in the latter class. The class song The Halls of Ivy was sung by the chorus. The benediction was given by Reverend Budke. CLASS SPEAKER, Charles Robinson, receives his diploma from Everett King, retiring member of the Board of Education who was given the honor by President George Hackett to present the diplomas. 65 Bashful (?)
