Shaffer Week. . . Shafter Week gives the Wasco student body a chance to show their true feelings for their favorite rival. After much controversy, the exchange rallies were held. They were assembled and performed by the students themselves to promote spirit and com- petition between the two schools. Two contests were held during Shafter Week. In one contest, provided for the girl 's entertainment, five football players were chosen who posed for nude leg shots. The p 1 a y e rs were Phil Schroeder, lxlike Griebling, Tim Unruh, Carl Rey, and Warren Bone. These racy pictures were taped on numbered coffee cans and placed in the cafeteria. Votes were made by putting a penny into the can with the sexiest legs. The winner, Phil Schroeder, was determined by the number of pennies in his can, naturally, and was awarded a pair of multicolor socks at the bonfire rally. The pennies received from the voting were used to purchase the hosiery. The second contest was for the guy's enjoyment. Four girls, Penny Hall, Lynne Fulwyler, Cheryl Mil- ler, and Pat Krause, were nominated by the Varsity football team, and the members of the Varsity, J.V. , and Frosh-Soph football teams voted for their queen. The winner, Penny Hall was determined by the number of votes in her favor, n aturally . She was crowned at the bonfire rally and was awarded a kiss from her escort Chris Skeels. ,Iii 'Zh 1... - .
