HISTORY GF WHEELING Led by Colonel Ebenzer and his brothers, Silas and jonathan, the first settlement was made at the mouth of Wlieeling Creek in 1769. The early history of this settlement is a story ofbravery and her- oism in conquering the wilderness and the Indians. The little community grew until in 1836, just one hundred years ago, Vifheeling was incorporated as a city.
