A Golden Day Homecoming holds a variety of meanings for every person. 'T’o some it is a formal dance or a chance to wear a Homecoming mum yet to oth- ers it is a school football game. To graduates, Homecoming is a chance to return to high school or a combi- nation of all these. For all students Homecoming is an exciting week full of school spirited activities ending with a game and dance. The Stu- dents Council Association organizes activities for the week proceeding the dance. Days such as “Twin Day”, “Dress Up Day”, and “Maroon and Gold Day” are part of the Spirit Week. A court is selected by the stu- dents containing two representatives from each underclass and four repre- sentatives from the senior class. It is from these senior representatives that the Homecoming Queen is se- lected by the student body. The Keyettes hold mum sales, a tradition at Warwick. The mums are deliverd to students’ first period classes and are worn to show true Raider Spirit. October 17, 1987, a big day for most students, finally ar- rives. As early as 9:00am students gather in the school parking lot to decorate cars and floats for the pa- rade. This spirted parade proceeds from Warwick High School to Todd stadium for the game. At half time the band preforms, the court is pre- sented, and the queen is announced. The dance which follows the game is perhaps the most exciting part of Homecoming. Students plan far in advance for this event; buying dress- es and making reservations, are of most importance. Homecoming pro- vides an opportunity for all organiza- tions to become involved and unite efforts to create a memorable event for everyone. The NJROTC plays a very im- portant role in the presentation of the court. NJROTC members stand straight as Trenette Doles, Homecoming Queen 1986, is es- corted by Richard Stacy, school principal, onto the field. Features 9 %
