Showing their school spirit, students appeared at Warwick as early as nine o’clock Saturday morning to deco- rate for the dance and the parade. Decorating seemed to be a large part of the fun for most students. The Keyettes participated in the parade by decorating a car, which was driven by Junior Celine Riffle. The Warwick- shire singers were represent- ed by a float. The float held the singers who performed at the game. The band was rep- resented by a bus that was decorated with maroon and gold. Yelling and waving to their friends, everyone seemed to be excited about the parade. The weather was perfect. The parade began at 12:30 and followed a course along Warwick Boulvard from Warwick High School to Todd Stadium. The pa- rade carried an intence level of excitement and fun as stu- dents supported the football team. Shouts of ‘Warwick Radiers are number one” were heard thoughout the parade. Adorned in new uniforms, the band, flag corps and majoretts add dimen- sion to the sound they create. The band is an enormous part of all Warwick activities; playing at pep rallies, assemblies, football games, concerts, pagent and PTA meetings. Each performance reflects the many hours spent in rehearsal. The band functions as a unit and therefore each member must participate fully. Beind involved in the band requires both time and devotion. Band mem- bers are school spirited individuals, who are proud to be Raiders. “T have enjoyed my four years of experience with the band.” Cary Mills — Twirler ’88 keeps the Raiders marching Wayne Woodcock proudly honors Warwick at the Homecoming game Halftime performance takes total concentration. “Its been an outstanding year so far” Scott Hudson — Drum Major ’88 Features 7 % Arletha Alicia Clark Jackson Ebony Pittman Kanoee Temple Reynolds Gatewood Bridgett Alphenia Drew Ruffin = a aRmanRr = An very important part of Home- coming is the assembly, in which the court is presented. 'T’o some it is a formal dance or a chance to wear a Homecoming mum yet to oth- ers it is a school football game. To graduates, Homecoming is a chance to return to high school or a combi- nation of all these. For all students Homecoming is an exciting week full of school spirited activities ending with a game and dance. The Stu- dents Council Association organizes activities for the week proceeding the dance. Days such as “Twin Day”, “Dress Up Day”, and “Maroon and Gold Day” are part of the Spirit Week. A court is selected by the stu- dents containing two representatives from each underclass and four repre- sentatives from the senior class. It is from these senior representatives that the Homecoming Queen is se- lected by the student body. The Keyettes hold mum sales, a tradition at Warwick. The mums are deliverd to students’ first period classes and are worn to show true Raider Spirit. October 17, 1987, a big day for most students, finally ar- rives. As early as 9:00am students gather in the school parking lot to decorate cars and floats for the pa- rade. This spirted parade proceeds from Warwick High School to Todd stadium for the game. At half time the band preforms, the court is pre- sented, and the queen is announced. The dance which follows the game is perhaps the most exciting part of Homecoming. Students plan far in advance for this event; buying dress- es and making reservations, are of most importance. Homecoming pro- vides an opportunity for all organiza- tions to become involved and unite efforts to create a memorable event for everyone. The NJROTC plays a very im- portant role in the presentation of the court. NJROTC members stand straight as Trenette Doles, Homecoming Queen 1986, is es- corted by Richard Stacy, school principal, onto the field. Features 9 % A Night ‘To Remember Always And Forever Feliu ib ¢ Features 10 The Homecoming Dance held October 17, 1987 in the cafeteria was aspecial occasion. A dress code was imposed for the first time requiring girls to wear skirts and allowing no jeans. The attire was more formal due to the dress code and therefore the evening held a certain glamor. A variety of couples came to dance and social- ize. The dance brought a large turn out; in fact many people ap- peared that had never attended a Homecoming before. Students flooded the dance floor to dance to the music provided by Bobby Ros- coe. Themed “Always and Forev- er” the evening held special mem- ories for many. The 1987 Homecoming Court was presented and a song was ded- icated to the Homecoming Queen, Cluverius Solomon. Couples danced until the last song was played and then left sharing in the warm glow of the memories creat- ed at Homecoming 1987; a night to remember Always and Forever. Meetings, athletics, rehearsals, and band prac- tices are just the beginning. These activities and the people involved in these activities contribute to the en- tire character of Warwick High School. Club meetings, pep rallies, and or- ganized activities break the monoto- ny of the school routine. Student in- volvement in extracurricular activities is important for a well rounded curriculum. Although aca- demic excellence is of primary im- portance at Warwick, students are encouraged to participate in activi- ties which will further acknowledge- ment of Warwick. Participation by the student body is the key to a meaningful school experience. Re Dewitt Joyner finds that involvement takes time and devotion. The biggest event of the Junior year is the Ring Dance. Juniors gath- er to celebrate the arrival of their class rings. A large part of the cere- mony involves the announcement of each couple. When announced, the couple appears under the ring arch- way and turns their date’s ring. The Prom, an event only second to graduation is our last opportunity to capture unified memories as a class. We toast to good times, good friends and good memories. The evening, long awaited and prepared for is one of the most memorable of the senior year. Capturing these memories on film is only one more step in making them a part of our lifetime. Features 17 9 Seniors as a class, look forward to graduation. Tears fill the eyes of many; as they real- ize that this is it. Graduation follows a set standard at Warwick. Faculty members, fol- lowing tradition, attend adorned in robes displaying the colors of their college and degree. The class song is performed by the senior Warwick- shire members. A speech is given by the salutatorian and then the valedictorian. The National Honor Society members graduate first followed by the rest of the class. Graduation represents the crossroads in every students life. Who knows? The possibilities are endless — excitement is in the air. Graduation opens the future to us — and in doing so closes a chapter in our past. We are the leaders of tomorrow — ready for anything These are the best of times ... Our friends may not have the same plans as we do. Things happen — we go our seperate ways. They say college changes people — some peo- ple never change. We may be friends after high school, We may be friends for the rest of our lives. We may never see each other again. Nothing is c ertain. These are the worst of times ... We smile at graduation and say our tears are tears of joy — are they? We are caught up ina whirlwind of unanswer- able questions and unexplainable feelings ... ... As we cross our fingers and take our first step out of childhood and into reality. — Traci W. Board’s main goal is to make their final year at W.H.S. and their prom the best ever. With the effective guidance of Mrs. I. Lee and Mrs. Jordan, and the active participation of all members, the Sr. Class Exec. Board has proven to be an ideal group to represent the “Class of 1988”! Fundraising plays an important role in the success of the Senior Class. They sold candy, and held two car washes, but the biggest event was Jell-O Wrestling. This was the first time Jell-O Wrestling has been held at W.H.S., and it proved to be reward- ing. The pictures above are evidence of the good time the Wrestlers and the Spectators had that night. The board put much time and effort into deciding on a theme, time, place, and the colors for prom. However, there is an unusal- ly large number of people leaving this year. A schools’ personality is multifaceted and constantly changing year by year. The only facet that remains a con- stant is the administration and faculty. These are the leaders and policy setters that keep the school in top form. These are the ones responsible for maintaining the high standard of education that is a Warwick trade-mark. June 18, 1988 will be the last day at Warwick High School for three of four administrators and a goverment teacher that has been the bain of many seniors. We would like the faculty that are retiring to know that they will be missed. Their dedication to Warwick and its’ students have inspired all that have known them. Enjoy your retirement !!!
