Beatin’ the Odds The 82-83 school year began on a positive note. The addition of the 9th graders last year did not seem to af- fect the efficiency of the school. The halls were crowded but surprisingly orderly though the cafeteria lines seemed to stretch on forever. The lines thinned quickly as off-campus permits and parking permits were issued. Class and bus schedules covered the walls and students crowded around rd A. Each of the principals welcomes the students to a new school year. B. On the first day of school many students, such as Patty Locklear, decorate their lockers for that ‘‘lived-in ’ look C. Confusion and frustration results as students seek their buses from the endless lines. D. During the first few hectic days of school, the signal of the bell fills the halls with students rushing to beat the tardy bell. E. Science teacher Marilyn Paige explains attendance procedures to Shannon Smith for Biology class 6 ¢ Back-to-School them. The happiest moments were re- newing old friendships and making new friends. Joining clubs and becom- ing involved made the transition to a new year a little easier. Amidst all the confusion of racing to class, trying to open jammed lockers, changing schedules and searching for the right bus, the ‘‘Raider Spirit’’ shone through.

Diamond Jubilee The Diamond Anniversary edition ffered the chance to look back at old olumes of the Warwick and compare jie student life of 60 years past. Much )}ad changed yet very little. The ‘|pening of school was greeted with ‘roans but also anticipation. Friend- jaips were renewed and new friend- jhips begun. Throughout the years jiere have always been the familiar ices of faculty and administration. | Though school competitions and sorts may have varied, win or lose, 1ere was always rivalry. The old school symbols of the Farmers and low had changed to the Raider and 1e equestrian Raider but there contin- ed to be certain games that spark erce loyalties. Homecoming brought ie old back for a reunion. Over the years regulations became tore relaxed in regard to the faculty. .s teachers were allowed more ‘eedom, they could participate in iore school functions. This was examplified by the faculty pep rally. Ring Dance: that special evening for the juniors when they received the recognized symbol of their school, the class ring. Reactivated in the past few years was the ‘‘Miss Warwick’’ compe- tition which results in a representative of the school chosen for her talent, poise, and personality. The seasons change but the events every year form a continuity that links the years to- gether giving a common bond. Spring arrived with the preparations for the spring play. The drama department was given their chance to perform. Throughout the years, drama had been an important facet of student life that had always encouraged every- one’s self expression. There was always the annual excitement of Prom and Graduation. Just as the Senior Class of 1923 greeted that special day in June so will seniors of years to come. aes Features Features « 5
