FS HF? Sr- nn.. 7778'7?lCffl 35-- 1 ff--'Q s W 'Fl 4 es- Q 'E Y' . What a day for a parade! On October 27th with temperatures in the eighties Homecom- ing 1984 was indeed memorable. The 'LSpirit of America was evident in everything, from the Spirit of American Victory to the 'Aspir- it of American competition. As the football team worked hard on their game, each class worked hard on its float. Long hours with paint and plywood were endured in various barns and garages all over Lititz. The Statue of Liberty was flown in from the New York Harbor, Betsy Ross was raised from the dead, along with John Paul Jones, and sand was shipped in from the coast of California. Each class reflected on the history of Amer- ica or some part of American life. The Fresh- man float recreated historical moments: Bet- sy Ross's famous stitchery and an explora- tory space flight. The Sophomore float boasted American apple pie, Benjamin Franklin's high-flying discovery, and the Lady of the harbor. The Junior float sailed smoothly along with actors bravely stating, as John Paul Jones had once done, 'Ll have not yet begun to fight, in reference to the Com- ets. Bikini-clad beauties lounged on the hot American sand adoring the dashing surfers, Surfin USA , the Senior float tied with the Junior float, John Paul Jones , for third place. Second place was attained by the Sophomore float, Hlrlistorical Moments . The Freshman float deservingly captured the first place prize with f'Betsy Rossu. All in all, it was a day to remember!
