950 :'A'A'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'Af'-'-'-'A'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'A'-'-'A'A'A'A'A'A'A'A'A'A'-'-'A'A'A'A'-'A Mid - Ce n turian 671155 History ll was four years ago that we began to worlc toward our goal. ln the year ol' 1946-47 we were a freshmen class of fifty-seven students with Mrs. Hess as our homeroom teacher. Gur homeroom was in the high school auditorium, and as the upper classmen would pass from class to class we respected and admired them. We elected LaMarr Kauffman as president, Richard Jurell as vice-presi- dent, Ronald Ditzler as secretary, and Mary Kreider as treasurer. Our freshmen student council members were Nancy Heimel and Lowell Forney. Dorothy Landis and June Risser were our May Queen attendants, and Doris Hackman was queen. Those who left the class during our freshman year were Joanne Groff, Roy Martin, Kenneth Shenenberger, and LaMarr Kauffman. During our freshman year we ordered our school rings. We were initiated by the senior class of 1947 when we entered high school. We freshmen presented a play in one of our assemblies called Oh Say Can You Sing! Vve started our sophomore year in 1947-48 with forty-six in room ten and lV1r. Klopp as our homeroom teacher. We were sorry that the following did not return with us: Raymond Carvell, John Hornberger, Roy Weaver, Marian Good. Nancy Heimel, Amy Knauer, Marian Ritter, Joyce Webber, lxflildred Landis, and Violet Martin. We elected Robert Garner as our sophomore president, Paul Metzler as vice president, Mary Kreider as secretary, and Ethel Young as treasurer. Those who dropped out of our class during our sophomore term were as fol- lows: Richard Houser, Florence Martin, Miriam Martin, and Lucille Vvillcens. Lowell Forney and Dorothy Landis were our student council members. Dorothy Landis and June Risser were May Queen attendants, and Marian Mumma was queen. Nancy Fox entered the class during our sophomore year but she dropped out before the term ended. Ray Garner and Betty Lou Geibe had also entered at the beginning of our sophomore year, but both dropped out before it ended. When we were sophomores we ordered red and white class hats which were popular for awhile. We also went on a hay ride to Mt. Gretna. We held our sophomore party in the school auditorium for all high school students and faculty members, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. We began our junior class in 1948-49 with forty members in room eleven, Nliss Carney was our homeroom teacher. VVe elected Paul Miller as president, Floyd Kauffman as vice president, Nlary Kreider as secretary, and Ethel Young as treasurer.
