Fortress Queen Is Drake Relays Candidate Representing Wartburg College in the Drake Relays Queen competition is the 1969 Fortress Queen, Miss Jeanne Sanders. Jeanne, an elementary education major from Waverly, was chosen from the senior class by the members of the yearbook staff. The queen, a well-known campus personality, was attended by Miss Sandy Luckritz, an elementary education major from Clinton, Iowa, and Mrs. Carol Gutmann of Waverly, a business-economics major. A basketball half-time became the setting for the coronation. Dr. John Bachman presented Miss Sanders with a glittering tiara, and Fortress Editor Eileen Grulke awarded her with a dozen red roses. DELIGHTING WARTBURG fans during a basketball half-time, Miss Jeanne Sanders begins her reign as Fortress Queen.
