Wright, 16, Basco, a junior at Warsaw High School, was killed in a one-car accident on a blacktop road four miles southeast of Nauvoo, Illinois, the announcer in- toned in an early morning newscast on Saturday, March 8 . The hearts of Dick's friends stood still in disbelief. With Monday came acceptance . FFA members, intheir blue and gold jackets with a strange solemnity and a new -found maturity, formed an honor guard at their fellow member's funeral. Some were his pallbearers . His classmates and teachers crowded the chapel. They brought flowers and tears to express the sor- row for which they had no words . In stark silence they listened to soft organ music, to scripture meant to comfort, to prayers offering hope . Then it was over . Dick was happiest when he was working in the fields or caring for his animals, he always knew he wanted to be a farmer . He loved the earth. Now he is a part of it. Too soon . f RICHARD NDICKH WRIGHT DEDICATION TO THE CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS THAT HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE HIGH STANDARDS THAT OUR SCHOOL IS KNOWN FOR. . . Let's reminisce and try to remember how it was one, two, three, or four years ago. Do you remember your first day as a freshman- -how you wondered if what you were do- ing was right and the hard time you had getting adjusted to things? Do you remember how it took a while to get along with the upperclassmen ? As sophomores with a bit of seniority gained in the preceding year, you looked down upon the freshmen, seeming to enjoy their struggling effort to achieve recogni- tion. ' X Your happy -go -lucky junior year was really great. It was so happy -go -lucky, that there just about wasn't any prom . If it hadn't been for a few who worked and worked AND worked, you might have danced, not under stars, but under cobwebs . Now, as you walk through the halls that you walked through so many times before, think of the good times you had . I bet if you thought real hard, a little harder than you did for an English test now and then, your good times would out-number your bad times twenty to one. Remember the ballgames, dances, the bonfires, contests, par- ties, prom, plays, and most of all, remember your friends. They played a very im- portant role in your high school life . As you receive .your diploma, and you hear the words Congratulations , smile and think of what you've gone through to get it. Getting an education has been a long, hard road, and you didn't do it by yourself, There really are too many people to thank. High has prepared some for a further education. Others are prepared to face the world and its everyday problems . The world of tomorrow is ours, and we have to make the very best of it. With God's help, maybe, we can, In our memory, there will stand, ever Warsaw I-Iigh. We will cherish from today, our dear Warsaw I-Iigh. Though in time and space apart, you will linger in each heart. Now and ever we will be, Alma Mater true to thee . We, the WiIdcat's Roar staff, would like to thank the many people who have helped us to put this I968-69 WlLDCAT'S ROAR together. To everything must come an end--yet any finish is simultaneously the start of something else. The I968-69 WlLDCAT'S ROAR staff wishes good times and purposeful futures to the graduating seniors who have gained a worthwhile goal, to the juniors who have the goal within their grasp, to the sophomores who are on their way, and to the freshmen who have made a great beginning.
