I Dedication MARTHA W. DELANO ANNA MAE SANDERS For their devotion to the furtherance of our education For their perseverance and cooperation in guiding us to¬ ward our ultimate goal - graduation For their challenging demands which contribute to our progress We, the Senior Class of 1961, dedicate The Ambassador to Mrs. Martha W. Delano and Mrs. Anna Mae Sanders whose services have motivated our suc¬ cessful activities. 2 Seniors: The Ambassador of 1961 should prove that the sacrifices of yesterday must make a better today. By the same token, you are what you are now becoming; each pupil forms a part of the school just as the school becomes an essen¬ tial part of the community. Lend your part to society so that America, the home of the free and brave, will continue to be the greatest na¬ tion on earth. It has been said, If a man can write a better book, preach a better sermon, or make a better mouse-trap than his neighbor, though he build his house in the woods, the world will make a beaten path to his door. You have the potential; therefore, always assume the active roll, never the passive which leads to the downfall of the individual, community or nation. 3 BJhe CftmBassacfor Sponsored by B. H. KERON FRANCE leaves her position at Naylor ' s beach to Nada Balderson in hopes that she will find her true mate as Keren almost did. TIM BROWN leaves Mr. Hodges’ car to Charles Hale. We hope that Charles will remember Tim’s motto, Don’t slow down for dogs. SANDRA PACKETT leaves her bear traps, lassos and snares - all of which she used to hook Harroll Woolard - to Norma Dameron in hopes that Norma will soon be wearing a diamond also. CONSTANCE PACKETT leaves her bewitching power over the local men to Cassie France. WILL SANDERS leaves his trail of broken hearts and his anti-radar devices to Harry Tayloe and Welford Haynie. DAVID O’DELL leaves his ability to put his point across to whoever can qualify for it. BARBARA SAUNDERS leaves her corny jokes, pleasant smile, and personality to Pauline Pitts. ORREN HINSON leaves his secret charm on out-of-town women to George Packett and Wen¬ dell Patton. BARTY BRADSHAW leaves whatever he has, if he has anything, to whoever needs whatever he has and can do anything with whatever this thing is. PATTIE CAMPER leaves her typewriter to David Pitts in hopes that he will have better luck on timed writings than she did. BOBBY SHRADER leaves his typing speed and his phoney excuses to go home after lunch to Graham Balderson. NANCY ALLIN leaves her love of attending school events to Cecil Schools with the hope that he will get as much out of them as she did. EDWARD THRIFT leaves his exciting dates to Robin Gallagher and Ralph Elliott who he feels are capable of handling these enchanting episodes. MARY CHARLOTTE BARTON and PATSY BOWEN leave their lengthy government notes to Mary Gallagher in hopes that she will get as good grades as they did. CAROLYN OLIFF leaves her job as annual photographer to Robert Scates and Bobby Reamy. We hope that the two of them will do at least half the job that Carolyn did for the 61 Ambassa¬ dor. To the Faculty we leave our deepest gratitude, for they did try. 12 Glass CProp ieca 1961 My, how the years have flown until it is the ninth of June nineteen-hundred and ninety-one, a very special date to me as well as fifteen oth¬ er members of the graduating class of 1961. This • was the day that we all walked down the aisle to receive our diplomas. Receiving these was a milestone in our lives. A lot of things wandered through my mind that night such as: How long would the speeches last? Gee, if we only could have had an air-conditioning tonight! - and most of all - What is going to happen to us in the future? I am now living on the glorious Island of Tahiti in my dream home which was built by Adam T. Gillis and partner, Maynard G. Crabs. You are perhaps wondering why I left Warsaw, U.S.A. Well, the trip down here I won for be¬ ing the sixty-two thousandth graduate of W.H.S. Hard to believe, isn’t it? Wanting to remem¬ ber those days and my fellow classmates, I bounce into my den on my pogo stick and take down the scrapbook that I have saved through the years filled with pictures, momentos, and newspaper articles concerning our class. Along my way out to the terrace overlooking the beautiful blue ocean, I press a button and re¬ ceive with gusto a big frosty glass of nice cool, delicious punch that reminds me of the kind that we had at our school dances. Atomic ener¬ gy is the ruler of my home; this was installed by a former member of the junior class, who used it as his science project. Well, now since I have explained everything, I shall continue. Having everything as comfortable as possible, I open the scrapbook and start to leaf through its pages. Gee, I have often thought how good it would be to see them all once again, but there hasn ' t been a button invented for that yet. They are so widely scattered too. Now take for instance Ed¬ ward Thrift, better known as Junior. He is a multimillionaire Yellow Cab driver in Alaska. Alaska, as we know it, is known for being the Land of the Midnight Sun ; for this reason Ed¬ ward told me on his last trip down here that he had to have a Yellow Cab to keep the Alas¬ kans happy. You should hear him tell you about the Nomad Eskimo, who tried to move his igloo in his cab. Here ' s a photo of Keron France taken at our May Day celebration when Keron was Queen. I read in the BROADWAY GAZETTE that she now 13 Continued on has her own modeling agency on the twelfth floor of the Empire State Building. Guess that she must enjoy that sky-blue living that it has to offer. Keron has trained such models as Cyn¬ thia Metrecal, Betsy Ayds, and Helen RDX. She is quite lucky in another respect, too, for two of her classmates formerly known as the Packett twins, Constance and Sandra, have their own exclusive beauty salon just two blocks away on Madison Avenue. They have created their own original hair styles, so I gather. I believe one is called Shakespearean Fluff, created in first period English; and then one called Book¬ keeping Specialty, which is an A plus L equals P swirl, and is considered a must for all Wall Street workers. The motto of this successful trio is Experience counts; take advantage of every class you have. ” Well, here ' s an article about Will Sanders, who has been quite remarkable considering how young he is. Will used to play in that TV series called Have Gun in Holster; Get It Out with Bang, until one day . . . well, it ' s one of those long short stories. Now, Will, or William V., is mayor of the city of Warsaw. He always said he would straighten anything out for a large sum of money. In fact, it says that he is one of the bus¬ iest mayors Warsaw has had in a long time. He maintains a shooting preserve, pool hall, and the local drag strip for the kitty-car races. Look at this headline; Dave O ' Dell has been appointed as a special assistant to the Mayor to investigate alleged ' fix ' in the Kindergarten Tiddely Winks tourney. Dave always had an eye for business, not private though. Being a well-known author, he has written such books as I LED 5 LIVES; RISE AND FALL OF THE HUMAN BRAIN; and his latest is a complete blank; per¬ haps the title will explain that, WHO ROGUED MY PEN? These are all on the best seller list for children. Nancy Allin, famous fashion designer, has found her Tall Paul and lives only fifty yards from Parie, fashion capitol of the world. This fashion article from La Vogue magazine says that Miss Nancy, creator and designer of the Bell-bottom Persian Giraffe Choker, has just created a new dress called the Stencil Remov¬ er with sophisticated flaring skirts; that is a must for every newspaper woman. In her spare time she knits little suits for her eighteen Per- page 77 Bobby Shrader, President; Tim Brown, Vice President; Carolyn Oliff, Secretary; Ed¬ ward Thrift, Treasurer; Keron France, Reporter. 14 sn NANCY ELIZABETH ALLIN Nancy MARY CHARLOTTE BARTON Mary Charlotte PATRICIA HOPE BOWEN Patsy CLIFTON BARTON BRADSHAW Barty 15 TIM SIEBERT BROWN Tim” PATRICIA MAE CAMPER Pattie DOROTHY KERON FRANCE Keron ORREN DOGGETT HINSON, JR. It ' s those little things that count! Here’s newspaper photo of the bubbling Cham¬ pagne Lady of’Ole Warsaw High, Miss Barbara Saunders. It says that she has been appointed as the first lady government inspector for the U.S. post offices. Barbara has always had an eye for post offices, still waiting for her male to come in, I guess. Oh, here’s another little item about her; it says that she has recorded her own origi¬ nal version of You Talk Too Much” with music by the Yackety Yak Trio - Willy, Milly, and Tilly. Listen to this personal I clipped from the MORNING BARK about two years ago. Lonely bachelor wishes to correspond with widow. Pre¬ fers one under thirty. If she is rich, then age doesn ' t matter. Write Clifton Barty Bradshaw, Ambassador to the Lonely Hearts Club, LasVegas, Nevada. Qualifications of inquirer are as fol¬ lows: has a huge tent on the Sahara Desert; has the fastest rocket this side of space; and can make the best baloney sandwiches that you ever ate. This guy has everything. Now here would be a good advertisement for the Toni or Spoolie Companies - Orren D. (D. for Doll ) Hinson, presently a Rear Admiral and in charge of his own Navy. Don’t guess he liked the first one. One thing about it, his fleet is well fed for they receive their rations from Hinson’s Supermarket, which is quite a boom, for Orren owns all stocks in the company. His motto was If I don ' t get to work and settle down, I ' ll end my days being on your country! ’’ Well, that’s the old philosopher. Speaking of food, here’s an article about Dr. Patsy Bowen, famous nutritionist of W.H.S. She is currently teaching home economics at Cor¬ nell University. In her leisure hours she conducts sewing circles throughout the neighboring com¬ munities. This, I believe, started in a suburb of Warsaw called Newland. For recreation she and her large family sell hot dogs in the world-fa¬ mous Coney Island amusement park. This, Dr. Patsy says, is everything a person could ask for. In a recent movie magazine there was a story about Carolyn Oliff or Shirley Temple, the II. It states that an actress can be famous as well as have a very economical way to enter¬ tain her fifteen children. Carolyn has her pro¬ gram on Channel 15, Station DRAWF, Sponsor Browniepsi, ” the TV drink, every Funday. from page 13 When vacation time rolls around, she and her husband, Casper, plan to take the family and visit Jellystone National Park. Consumer ' s Digest reports that the bank president of the Northern Neck Federal Reserve Bank, Tim Brown, has invented a type of clothes pins that could be used in holding up banks. Meanwhile, on the other side of the clothesline he operates the exclusive, elaborate, devastat¬ ing, incredible Mulbury Springs Resort. Sounds as if Tim might have been the first to have tested those clothespins, doesn’t it? Headline - states that an assistant nurse to Dr. Albert Schweitzer returns to United States with her husband, ultra boxing champion Dukes Shrinerock. The press, while interviewing her, notices a string of teeth around her neck that were given to her by the Elephant Fraternity. If you remember, Mary Charlotte Barton, R.N., was the discoverer of the lotion that would have removed the spot from Lady Macbeth’s hand, but her discovery was a little too late; her only comment to the press at the time was I know. Last, but now least, here ' s a picture of our class president, that red-haired, freckled-faced boy. Sir Robert DuVal Shrader, the II. Gee, you’d never recognize him now; thirty years have surely made a change. In fact, I don’t see a trace of red hair. Oh, yes, there are two little curls on his forehead. This is probably the re¬ sult of the recent election. It seems that Bobby lost the argument ... but one of his uncles is a wig maker, so this will remedy Bobby’s problem. After looking over this scrapbook, I have be¬ come more anxious to have a reunion. Think I’ll get my atomic energy contractor to get to work on that button to get the Class of ' 61 to¬ gether for a future reunion here on the Island. 77 Q T ' Q, yearbooks TAYLOR PUBLISHING COMPANY ' The World ' s Best Yearbooks Are Taylor-made — WMMmm. iflfllll i«| | ■ I 8f v ' , wkmi §ml VHszfM IPiiiiSp Is m s
