Class Prophecy I hurriedly slipped into my new evening dress, on which I spent all my last week ' s savings at Millers and Rhoads, where Howard Dishman has become the head manager. It has been a long time since I put my savings into such a luxury as an evening dress, but I did need a new dress for the W. H. S. Alumni Banquet of 195 8, at which all my class¬ mates would be present. I walked rapidly to the Warsaw High School gymnasium, to find the lobby crowded There greeting everyone is Dr. Hugh Smith, a well known Washington min ster, and with him is the President of the United States, Roy Prance, who had left Washington to run its own business, while he came to the banquet. Coming toward me is Virginia Mae Pierce, who just won the Miss America title for the tenth time, and with her, Wesley Brown, who has become Ambassador to England. Could the Millionaire, the crowd is talking about, be Billy Walker? They say he lights his cigars with million dollar bills. Why, look who is sitting across from, me--Mr. Mrs. Paul Revere. ' Someone said Prances gave up her movie career to become Mrs. Revere. Here comes the Charming Ann Lamb. Ann, much to the amazement of all of us, followed the teaching profession and she is now a mathematics instructor at Warsaw High. Someone said that Ann became so attached to math in her high school days that she just could not give it up. The President of our Alumni Society, W. D. Edwards, who has just completed his 10th post-graduate course at V. P. I., is announcing that dinner is served. Tayloe Murphy, the millionaire playboy, is seated at the table with me. Tayloe shows me the pills he takes for his acid stomach. They are Carter ' s Liver pills manufactured by Carter-Balderson Co. I never thought that Alvin and Grover would have such a prosperous business. I just chatted with Louise Sydnor and her husband Boatwright Sanders. They say, they are making millions off their Dairy Farm. I looked around for Virginia Clarke to make up the fifth party. Much to my amazement, I learn that Virginia is out sailing on the Atlantic Waves with her new hubby, Robert Allison. Virginia ' s solgan is still, Marry Robert and s ;e the world through a port hole. Peggy Wilson and Marie Snowden have a radio show over Station D-U-Z called, Ingnid Igglestine ' s In-laws. They will make a personal appear- ence at Warsaw Mosque tomorrow night. Pearl Pitts and Elsie Bulgher, famous jitterbug team, now entertain us with some of the number from their newest show, Till the Stars Shoot. I have just talked to Mable Reynolds a few minutes. She said she had set up a Sewing Shop and really had a fine business. Everyone is talking about the fight which took place the other night. Allen Harper won the Heavyweight Championship of the World from Joe Louis. Joe is still unconscious. To my surprise, June France just came whizzing through. She said she is a singer in the Stork Club in Hollywood. Clarke Gable was her escort. Leroi Clarke has joined Ann Lamb in teaching at Warsaw High School-- Home Economics. She says there ' s nothing like housekeeping. Oh, here are our last entertainers on the program--why, it ' s Edna Mae Nash and Geraldine Sanders impersonating the 1948 Warsaw Hip-h Faculty. Once more, with pleasant memories of old and dear friendships still fresh in our minds, I turn in at the door of my cosy little bedroom, re¬ move my lovely evening dress, and hang it in the closet, till the next year ' s Alumni Banquet. A good time was had by alii Class Historian, Frances King
